Suppose To Be On Supervised Medical Diet But I Am Gaining

Recommended Posts

I went in for my initial visit in October and my insurance will cover it, if I follow a 3month supervised diet...except I have been gaining during my "diet" but really its the holidays, its so hard! I gained 4 lbs the first month and I am scared for the second month visit here next week. Too many parties. I hope my insurance doesn't reject it because of this....but then I think I need help that is why I am here.

try to remember how important YOU are. they are just parties and it is just food. they life you will have "after" you decide to eat better is sooooo much more fun!

I had my surgery 10/28/11. I lost 30 lbs by the time of surgery. the nutritionist asked me to try and stay at 1200 calories each day. I am so glad I did. Everything we change is hard in the beginning but, when the clothes start to feel too big on you WOW that is such a reward.

check out a lot of the posts on this forum. there are so many good ideas. you CAN do this.

ONE DAY AT A TIME. Believe it!

Your right. It is because we have failed at diets time and time again, is why we have decided to have surgery to loose weight.

Prefer not to call being banded a diet. It is a physical change to my digestive tract to control my eating, and that is exactly what it does.

thanks guys! I am turning over a new leaf today...its monday right teeth_smile.gif

I want this to work and I know I can do it. I think I got a little derailed when I weighed in last month and thought I was doing well but gained 4 lbs....I need to learn to get back on track quicker and not let it get me down.

sorry to hear that you've gained.... I'm halfway thru my 6 month and I've gained 6 lbs. I'm getting a hold of it and try to lose some before my next weigh-in. I'm pretty pissed at myself, because I know what I've been doing wrong. But it's like I can't stop eating...

You'll do better... you have what it takes! All of the posters on these forums have what it takes... just look at all the people that are succeeding! Good luck!

I can't stress this enough- EXERCISE! That's what I did to loose almost 30 pounds! I ate less, but I ate what I wanted prettymuch...and the exercise was the key to me loosing this weight so far. The first 3 months I don't know how but I lost like 5 pounds...which surprised me cuz I wasn't taking it seriously at first..but after I saw my doctor and was told I NEED to loose 50 pounds before they consider giving me the surgery ..I buckled down and started moving every night...little by little I started doing more and more...now they are giving me the surgery ASAP as soon as I get my approval! They just wanted to see that I can do it...You gotta move to loose!

I haven't had my surgery yet...and I've gained a little during my 6 month documented diet. I believe I have a handle on it now, but one of the previous posters is dead on: it is just food. We have to stop giving it so much power.

It is hard to do this over the holidays, but focus on making the changes you can make now so that your surgery goes easier for you. You can do it!

So I weighed in today and "only" gained 3 lbs this month. I was happy with that and my dietician wants me to shoot for 2lb loss next month....I can do it! He reminded me that coming off the HCG diet(I was on that for 90 days) was going to be hard not to gain weight(I had lost 60lbs on the HCG diet).. Thanks for all your support and words of wisdom.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
