Why!! People Keep Telling That Lots Of People Gain Weight Back After Lap Band Surgery. Yaa!

Recommended Posts

The few, people I have told have all told me that they heard lots of people gain wt back. Oh and love this one, " you gained wt back after your other diets". Of course none have talked to anyone that went through this. I knw that wt gain back is possible but why not be supportive or at least pretend to be.

This is the prime reason why I haven't told anyone but my immediate family. I do not want to hear from the nay sayers. Keep going Skinny, do not let them discourage you. Show them that you will make this happen and never look back.

There is a woman where I live who started in about people who have weight loss surgery. It was ugly and negative and needless to say I kept my mouth shut that I was going to be one of "those people" who "take the easy way". I just had to understand that I was talking to a very ignorant person who had no grasp of the facts at all. It is hard when people are not supportive, especially when they are the ones who should be supportive. I have told nearly everyone what I am up to and have had a lot of support. Most are curious and ask a whole lot of questions and I think that because I can answer their questions they see that I have educated myself and am not going into this blind and they feel better about it. Most want to see what is going to happen and that motivates me to stay on course. You will do great, you did the research, you understand what you are getting involved with and I believe you will lose this weight and keep it off and be the healthiest version of you that you have ever been. Wow, You must have told the same people I told lol.

I have big friends, med size friends and small friends. Ive noticed the friends that are skinny that I told were SO supportive .. "good for you". Good luck" "that's great" "im so happy for you" blah blah blAH.

My big friends want details, they are interested in the procedure and are now thinking about going through with this .

My med size friends that wouldn't meet the requirements for a bariatric surgery basically said " your stupid". "why are you doing that to your body" " it doesn't work" blah blah blah .

So I know exactly how you feel.

I was banded December 1st. im 2 weeks post op down 12 lbs. Im doing pretty damn good and gonna continue to do good. Im not going through all this and messing up now.

Good luck to you !!

for some reason there are some jealous people out there. They are afraid you are gonna lose and look better then they do. I don't understand why they cant just be happy for you. I just say thats why i got the lap band to help me get the weight off and keep it off.

It's sad when people can't be supportive! The bottom line is that you took control of your life and many people are intimidated by that fact because they have never done it in their own lives! So congrats to you and your response to them should have been if I start to gain weight the benefit of the lapband is that I can always have it tightened again!

ppl that say that suck and really need to learn how to be supportive of others.... say just bc theyve tried tons of diets and gained the weight back doesnt mean that you are going to bc the lapband is NOT a diet...it is a weight loss tool! So tell em to quit hatin!!!!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
