I met with my surgeon for preop last week since my surgery is this Tuesday.. He told me that he will be putting my port sorta under my bra strap.. I would like to know the placement of other peoples and see pictures if I can.....

I don't have any pictures. Mine is a few inches to my left of my belly button. I am not so thin that you would be able to see it anyway, even though I am at a normal BMI. The only downside to the location is that some waistbands will bother me. It is higher waisted clothes that hit me wrong.

If I had rock hard abs and were thinner, it might stick out. But I am not, and I am not a bikini wearer..so for me, it is all good.

You'll find, just like the dietary instructions differ by surgeon, so does the port placement. Mine is on my left, halfway between my boob and my belly button. If i am stting for a long time, sometimes my bra wire can annoy it. But as I lose more weight, I am sure this will resolve itself.

Mine is on the right a little above my belly button. As I lose weight, I can feel it more, but it does not bother me. It is kind of in line with my waist.

I guess every doctor does their own thing.

Mine is about 2 inches above my belly button. Centered right above it.

I haven't had surgery yet, but my doc says he is placing it to the left of belly button but not higher than my belly button.

Mine is placed right under my left boob. I used to wear underwire bras, but it was so irritating. I finally asked my dr. about it after reading what other women had to say about it. He told me not to wear underwire bras. After losing over 100 lbs I guess I should try an underwire bra. I buy good support bras so I have not been drooping in them.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
