Lap Band Pre Op Diet - Fruit Yes Or No?

Recommended Posts

To Floridays - you look amazing!!! and WOW 22 pounds in 14 days???? You have definately motivated me!!! So far today I've done really well. Only 1 cup of broth (I put a bullion cup in Water today and it tasted much better than that nasty swanson broth) and I had 1 8oz whey Protein shake which is delicious! The scale hadn't move when I weighed in last night but I'm going to wait a week then try again. It felt so good when my mom told me she was proud of me today! (Co's NO ONE thought I'd make it w/o food!!!) but what I don't understand... like w/ cbreeden28, why does some doctors allow "applesauce" ---- I'd LOVE applesauce right about now, but my doctor said only Water, tea, broth, Jello and popcyles ONLY. (I don't like Jello or popcycles) but I'm going to stick to this because I really do want to be banded in the next 2 weeks. Gosh.... just saying thats me smile, but I also have butterflies!!!

cbreeden28 I'm so happy for you that you've lost 10 pounds already! I tell ya... I'll be so happy when I can say goodbye to the 200's and get into the 100's.... I won't know how to act, LOL ;) Thanks for writing! I really appreciate it to everyone!!!

Msfotobug,

I literally feel like you have taken a page from my life story. Last year when i started this journey, i thought this would go so fast. Right after I had my first appt, I proceded to gain 11 lbs. My doc requires that you lose 5% to get the surgery.

Finally last month I got so close that the nurses let me me with the doc(I was 2 lbs away and he gave me the go ahead). The next day I was right back up to a higher weight and the nurse called and told me that they will not process my paperwork until I reach that 5% goal. Obviously it takes me a long time to lose and i never keep it off.

Your story inspired me to try harder, so today is day 1 and I will have 4 shakes and a dinner of 3oz Protein and 1 cup green veg.

I especially feel motivated by the part about satan! I have always turned my back to him and will with this as well! (I am usually not so spiritual-maybe that's the problem)

take care and I wish you the best today on your journey

Tammy

Hi Tammy,

How is your pre op diet going? I weighed in today at the dr. office and I'm down

14 pounds!! I was so excited. Your letter above had me in tears. I thought, wow "I" inspired someone else... that was a motivating feeling for me to keep it up! Not sure what your dr. has advised as far as pre op diet, but for me it's "all liquid" except for sugar free Jello and popcycles. I think 4 shakes might be putting you over in calories. (I was told to stay under 800) I normally drink 2. But I'm praying for you Tammy, I know you can do this!

I start tomorrow, someone mentioned cream of wheat? is that not CARBS? Im gonna do my best to follow the rules. My biggest issue will be my coffee in am's. I guess skim milk will NOT do, or powder stuff or fat-free Creamer. sigh prrr.gif

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
