Oh man...This is crazy

So I have attempted with 3 different doctors to get switched, none fell thru. Mind you I DID go thru a Center of Excellence as advised to find these doctors in my area, yet they were all "out of network" surgeons. I was coming to the conclusion that none of this was meant to be, and I had decided to not follow thru with surgery, and then just last week I got the call from my "consultant" telling me i have been approved. But I have been approved with a surgeon in beverly hills?? I'm from the bay area, and was originally having my surgery done by a doctor in San Jose. Which I wasnt happy with (reason I was trying to switch doctors) I'm so confused. So now what??? Take it as a sign? I got what I wanted, a new doctor so just go with it? Beverly hills??? why put me with a surgeon so far away? I dont get it. It's been about a week, and i havent called my consultant back, I'm so confused i dont know what to do. I wanted this so bad, was working so hard towards it. Then with everything going the way it did, i was hoping to NOT get approved (an easy way out of this decision). This has been such a rollercoaster. Im soo scared because of the luck ive had overall, im thinking the worst. Then i go look up this weight loss center in beverly hills and see nothing but negative reviews and a few lawsuits. GREAT

I will call my consultant today...

a question- not sure how far away Beverly Hills is from you....? remember you will be going back for fills so that may be a factor.

After all the disapointment maybe if you met with the doctor? Honestly Is say go with your 'guy' (no pun intended). Could you reluctance be from the previous disapointments?

Keep us posted please?

Not banded here, waiting on my consult and I DO know there are some AMAZING folks on here. So keep us in the loop.

Call your insurance company and work with them directly. Sometimes it takes showing the insurance company that in-network doctor XYZ will cost them more overall than out-of network doctor ABC.

Nothing more frustrating than wanting to make a major change and being met with insurance hurdles,

Just remember that it IS worth it.

Stay Strong!

Just Because a clinic is in Beverly Hills doesn't mean that it is reputable. There is a clinic there

that has had 2 deaths and many botched WLS. I went to Cedar-Sinai which is one of the best,

also in Beverly Hills, so location doesn't mean much. The American College of Surgeons has

a web site with a locator that gives the location of all the ACS Bariatric Centers of Excellence

in California. I'd use that as a guide. There are other accrediting bodies that call themselves

CoEs, but don't seem to have as high standards. I hope you find a good surgeon, do a lot of

research, it pays.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
