Ummm yes I have had lapband sugery bromo for a few years now I dont have to include every thing on my profile I dont need to have an open book on my profile for everyones view. I just didnt care to fill it out and what does that have to do with anything. I didnt say not to ask questions I simply stated if you are having urgent matters call your physician no sense waiting around for an answer. I have never had to pay my surgeon a consult fee for calling him with something I feel is urgent.

While I definitely understand your view sanction. A lot of people post OMG I had the hiccups, that is no where needed to call your surgeon in the middle of the night. Yes they can be called, but even surgeons have lives and are not on call 24/7. There is someone 24/7, but may not neccessarily be your surgeon. Like the post about someone's port coming loose, again not an emergency. Does it suck? Absolutely, but you're not freaking dying. As for the post with chest pains, if they're as bad as the title made it out to be, I would probably go to the ER not wait for my doc to call me back for advice. I'm just saying what I feel, as I am not a worry wart. 10 days post op I had severe heartburn for like an hour at a time once a day for 3 days. I didn't call my doc, I said if it happens again I'll call, and guess what? It never did.

I think most all the posts I've seen include. If you're really worried contact your doctor. I've not seen anyone claim to say that their advice is golden

Never mind shallow minds I took out what I originally posted but for an FYI Cheri the badger it doesnt bother me but I can post what I want even if you do not like it. DONT READ IT.

You know we started out with not too nice words to each other. We could start over and be nice to each other. I do not think I badger people but . . . maybe I come across like that, if so I am sorry. I have very different views on a lot of things than you but that is what this is all about everybody's opinions all mixed together. So I say to Sanction sorry if I offened you or came on too strong in other posts in your direction again, sorry and will try harder to accept everybodie's opinion as just that. Sometimes when we read things instead of hearing them it seems like there is an attitude with it and I think that happens between you and I. What do you think? Friends?

Cheri

Its not about having the money to go to a doctor if you have a surgeon then he is your doctor. In my opinion people want medical advise that should not be given via the internet. I am not being a smart ass but come one people common sense tells you if you have pain of any kind that is not normal call your doctor. Or if your throwing up constantly or cant keep food down these are not questions that should be presented in a forum. I am not talking about the average how long will my port hurt kind of crap I am talking about I have chest pain what should I do.

I have to say I agree !! I had a tiny bit of pain, and i ran to my Lapband Dr. and i mean RAN, They also say the same thing, all that " PB ING" throwing up, reflux, cant keep food down, ect ect IS NOT NORMAL, it should not be like that. Its true the cost may be a issue for some people, but a Center of Excellence you are usually coverd for 6 months after your surgery. Medical bills are medical bills, let them bill you and get help ASAP PEOPLE. Its your life, there is no Bill to big for that :)

Harsh but i have to agree.

If you are having chest pain, leg pain, any kind of pain that is not normal to you, hot ports, feeling bad, having issues keeping food down, throwing up constantly, having acid reflux, anything that is not normal CALL YOUR DOCTORS. This is not the place for medical adivice or what could or could not be wrong with you. Just because someone might have the similar thing happen to them it may or may not be what is happening to youi. YOUR DOCTORS GET PAID TO BE ON CALL 24 HOURS SEVEN DAYS A WEEK TO TAKE THESE KIND OF CALLS. Call them, bug them, ask them what is wrong. It is no ones place here to give medical advice EVER.....

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
