Yay! Feeling more normal today!

Recommended Posts

So I went to the dr today. We talked about what I was experiencing, and he confirmed that it sounded like I was really swollen and the band was too tight. He took out all the Fluid, which was about 3cc, and I feel tons better! He said that it's a rare occurrence in his office to have a band too tight right out of surgery, but that's me.....an overachiever. It hurt so bad to have him press on my stomach to locate the port. So now my stomach feels like I just got out of surgery and is all swollen again! I'm excited to see how quickly I progress in my recovery now that I feel better on the inside. I finally get to start full liquids tomorrow and am hating my band a little less than I did yesterday.

It is actually quite common for the band to be too tight if Fluid is inserted at the time of surgery. The fluid combined with postop swelling is for many people a really bad combination. There have been many people on this site that have posted wishing they had never been banded as they had just had surgery and couldn't eat/drink etc. When they went to their Drs many of them had had fluid inserted during surgery and this was the cause of their problems.

Now that yours has been taken out hope you start feeling better . You can heal first and concentrate on getting fills and losing a little later.

I had 2 cc's pit in during surgery and had it taken out 2 days later... My doctor said only about 1% have post op swelling so bad that they can't drink... I guess I was just lucky! Haha I also have had other complications with the band but nothing major. I know it's all worth it. I'm down 43 lbs(need to update my ticker) and I've dropped 2 pants sizes in 6 weeks... I know because of the band I'll never see those 43 lbs again! It's all worth it and you just deal with it as it comes.

I felt so much better after he took the Fluid out. You're definitely on the road to recovery!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
