Need o get back on track

Recommended Posts

I had my Lapband surgery February of 2009, I haven’t seen my surgeon since October of 2010. Since then I been very bad with my diet, I been traveling a lot and going through my mother dying from cancer December to February. I can eat almost as I did before my surgery in any meal. My weight has went up by 10-20 pounds.

What should I do to get bck on track, currently living in Milford PA.

Thanks,

James

Wow James,

Dont let all your hard work be lost. Everybody has their ups and downs! You went through a difficult time but now you need to get it back on track. I have only been banded now for a little less than 2 weeks, so I guess I am not much of an authority on the subject, but I do know that I didnt go through this surgery to let myself get back to my old habits. Make an appointment with your doc and get a fill or whatever it is you need to jumpstart you again.

Good Luck!

You ask how do you get back on track. For me, I just look at my old pictures. I see the old, depressed, disgusted, tired, happy on the outside but miserable on the inside me. It snaps me back everytime. I hate what I used to be so much until I don't ever want to go back there.

Get an appointment immediately to see your doctor. This way you can see how much restriction you have and how much of a fill you need. We've all fallen off the wagon at one time or another. You are not alone. Life's situations do give us some hard blows sometimes but you must know that you can overcome them. Only 10-20 pounds is not bad at all. Beef up your exercise and Water intake. Get your old mindset back and go forward. You still have a lot of life ahead of you to live. Put yourself in a position to enjoy it. All the best to you!!!!!

Hang in there James! I think Meekie gave a wonderful idea about remembering how you were before. Sorry about the loss of your mom - you will get through this. Best of luck to you.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
