Big Sister...Little Sister

Recommended Posts

I think it would be neat to have like a everyday person to check in with about failures, and improvements. Also to get tips from. What does other members think? Maybe through email. And later in a month or so come back and post the success the two have done together.

I love the idea. Right now I check in daily with with my little sister, literally. She lost 50 lbs. just over a year ago so she does understand part of my struggle. I think we should partner with people who are going through the same kinds of things we are: no weight loss, head hunger, lots of pbing, less than 30 lbs to goal, etc. Who wants to be my accountability partner? I should warn you, LBT is a Mon-Fri thing for me. Lil'Angel? We got similar surgery dates and problems...

Pic of me and my little sister (no prizes for guessing what I will look like if I do manage to get the weight off, hmm?)

Heather, you are very sweet. I'd actually changed my avatar today in support of my turtle tribe partners, but perhaps I'll just add it to my signature. I think we should pair up based on likeness, but I'm not in charge...what do you guys think?

Well here is what I am like. Pre-band, but scheduled. Doing the Atkins diet until surgery. married and mother of two. And 29 years old. Also, I live on the east coast in Florida. Don't know how much someone wants to match up with me, but I would really love having a "bitch sister" (what we used to call friends when we were doing studies at my old school. Someone like you that you could "bitch" to about all your upsets and anger.)

I am aslo kind of crude and cheeky with humor. LOL That might make a difference with someone.

I am 38, married, 3 kids. Two boys my own, and 1 step daughter. I was banded 12/22. Weighed in at 189. I have only lost 7 lbs. I have had 1 fill. I live in houston, tx. I am out spoken at times. But that seems to help with other people.

I am 16 weeks post-surgery. I am an official member of the turtle tribe: I've only lost 9 lbs. in that time. I'm 30 years old; full-time Mom of 2, part-time Mom of 2 more. I also work 2 jobs to support the aforementioned children. I live in SE Georgia. My humor tends toward crude as well, but it's usually dry and wry as well. I've been chunky since I was 6, so I've no idea what normal will be like, but I can't wait to get there!

Ok, here is the plan. We will give an initial group until Friday to post their info, then we'll match everyone up (I can do it, if you like). After that, we will match people up as they come on board. How about this for categories: Just Looking (into banding), no/slow weight loss, head hunger, less than 30 lbs to goal, erosion/slippage, Losing & Happy, unbanded, etc. I am taking suggestions for more. Then we'll match by interests and perhaps age. Thoughts?

I am pre-band... but am scheduled for April. I'm 29 and married with one daughter who is 21 months. My current weight is 300, but my goal is 140. I live in Oregon, and I will be having my surgery with Dr. Kuri. I like to have fun and laugh, I have a quirky sense of humor. Would like to have someone to kick me in the butt everytime I talk about canceling my surgery date :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
