Hi All! Its been awhile and nothing new to report, that is until yesterday! 1 more ugly pound lost! :D I was so excited to update my little ticker FINALLY! Its been several weeks since I lost anything. Seems I have been gaining and losing the same 2-3lbs and its making me sick. I called today and made an appointment for a second fill on Tuesday. I have 3cc now and can tell that I can eat smaller portions, but not as small as they should be. And really, my will power sucks.

Still slacking in the exercise department, well I wouldnt call it slacking, more like NOT DOING. And I have my bag full of excuses, but dont feel like digging to grab one out at the moment :P

Hope you all have a wonderfully blessed weekend!!

I didn't lose any weight for over 2 weeks and then suddenly right before my fill, 1kg fell off - don't know how that happened!

I had my first fill yesterday. My doctor didn't use any numbing stuff, and the needle felt like a tiny pinprick - not as bad as getting an IV at all! He put in 2cc, and I felt restriction immediately. I felt totally stuffed full - it was 10 o'clock in the morning, and all I could stomach for the rest of the day was a coffee, a small bowl of miso Soup, and a berocca! I had an Optifast shake for Breakfast today so I don't faint or something! One weird thing - as soon as I had the fill, I got a headache that lasted until I went to bed that night, and I started yawning and yawned for hous. Has that happened to anyone else?

I'm starting to feel like I can get back into exercise. I started gardening with my daughter a few weeks ago, and overdid it a bit, and my port was really achy. I had to stop everything for a while. That seems to have settled down now. I'm having a go on my exercise bike each day now. But my fitness is shocking - I can barely go 2 minutes on the thing! Oh well, I guess that will come back in time...

Hi cakegirl,

Good to hear from you again. Glad the fill did not hurt but sorry for your headache. I did not experience that but with my fill I still do not feel much restriction. Yes, get out there and exercise but don't overdue. It takes time to build back up to a long period of exercise. I started out walking 10 minutes, that's all I could stand with my back. Now I'm doing 20 minutes everyday and not wearing my back brace most of the time. I bet all of our fitness is shocking, that's probably one of the reasons we are all doing this. LOL

Blessings,

GG

A lot of us seem to be having trouble getting in exercise. We are all still healing and I know all the excuses for not exercising. I have used them all. I was basically a large slug last year with foot and then knee surgery. Since I have started walking again my back is better, I am loosing inches, slowly loosing lbs, I really do sleep better and that Water goes down a lot faster when you are hot and tired. There is a definite correlation between weight loss and exercise and we all know it so everyone needs to make the time to do something. I am wearing clothes that are now getting loose that I bought last year when I was 10 lbs lighter. It's from exercise. I walk laps from my dining room to my den to my kitchen to the living room and do it for 20 minutes. I turn the tv up so I can hear it and grab my water bottle about every 2nd lap and before I know it 20 minute has gone by and most of my 3 cups of water is gone. Next week I'll increase to 25 minutes and sometimes I do it twice a day. You don't need special equipment and now that it is cooler we can all go outside and take a walk around the block.

This is a transition time for us and we need a lot of help. Some more than others. If you want help tracking your calories I highly recommend My Fitness Pal. Most of you have heard of it but if you are not using it try it. You can track every calorie, your exercise and your water intake. It gives you calories back for your exercise and I especially like that feature. You can set your own limits for calories, sodium, sugar, Protein and even put in your own recipes and it will break it down for you. One of the reason I liked Weight Watchers Online is their calorie tool and it's just like this one, only free. You need to know how much your Dr recommends as far as all the values for protein, calories, carbs, etc. but then you can do it all yourself. Do any of you out there use it? I only use the calorie counter but I know there are other features.

Hi Cakegirl,

It's good that you felt restriction immediately, and congrats on the sudden loss. I had my first fill on Tuesday of this week and have been suffering with wicked gas after eating and it last for hours. I am too finding it difficult to get back in the groove of working out. I was like a pro at zumba, but now I just find myself jumping around for a few minutes then just standing there....LOL. Best wishes to you!

I know that us August bandsters have are getting our first fills, but I was wondering if any of you have experienced gas since getting filled. I started getting terrible gas discomfort on the day of my fill, I'm talking post-op day 3/4 gas. Gas x does not seem to relieve either!!:(

:( post op gas?! Ugh! Just thinking about it makes me grab my chest and want to cry! I didn't have gas, but did have weird pressure in my chest, it was gone by the next day.

Hope you get to feeling better soon. Did you call your doc?

Welcome janojan! You had your surgery the day before mine. You are a little ahead of me in weight loss too. How does the fill feel? Do you have any restriction?

Hopefully it will help and that and will do its job. It's a real bummer to go 2 1/2 weeks without any weight loss. I've only lost 1/2 lb in 10 days so I know where you are coming from too. Glad to have you on the board and keep us informed to your progress.

Blessings,

GG

Hi, doc said i have to be back on liquids for 2 days, i understand why , i can really feel everything going down harder, but everything goes down and stays down, so hopefully the LBS will start coming off. Good luck with you and keep in touch :)

Great to hear how everyone is doing with their fills. I am so jealous. I was banded August 16th and I still haven't had my first fill. I am scheduled to have it Monday October 3rd.

I can't wait to get the fill process started.

Right now I have no restricting and I am hungry a lot of the time. I am just working on pure will power at this point.

Monday is not far away now. Let us know how it goes. I understand about working on pure will power, I am too. I've got an appointment Tues and had my first fill 2 wks ago. Can't say it did much but another one will be great.

I did not have the the best weekend with my choices of foods (although I did stay within my max of 1200 calories). Thus far I have not seen a change on the scale, but I feel horrible. I feel like I am losing control, I'm so hungry! Now that I am logging everything I eat I noticed how things that I once was low in calories, fat, carbs, etc are not. For example I always thought pecans were not high in calories so in order to not eat any unhealthy Snacks and to control my hunger I decided to get a 2 oz cup of pecans from the cafeteria at work. I had a couple and went to log them on MFP and saw how many calories and decided not to proceed. Maybe it just the guilt from this weekend. I drank a Atkins shake for breakfast and half a tuna sandwich for lunch today and I still fill like I am failing. I pray tomorrow will be a better day!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
