I am 5 days post op. I am so miserable. I'm hurting in my back and stomach on my left side. The nurse told me to take some Tums. She is telling me that it is some gas still there. I have been taking the Tums and Gas X. I am hurting so bad. I am down 12 pounds since surgery on 9/22. I do not have appetite at all. i am making myself eat and drink. I had a little pudding and a couple sips of water.I go to the doctor tomorrow. So, I can not wait to see what they are going to tell me.

Peps, I am pretty stoked after this visit. I am happy for you to be getting banded on Thursday and starting this journey. Just remember that even though the first couple of weeks can be tough we all eventually get through it. 2 weeks ago I never thought this day would come. LOL

Congrats on getting to the gym! The 1st of the month I'm going back to 24 hr fitness. Just not ready yet - I am walking to the park, go to sit down for a few minutes and rest - then head back to the house. I am in a 2 story and am trying to do more stairs every day. Are you planning on going to the gym every day?

I belong to a 24 hour gym also. While I"m off work, I'll try to go daily. Once I'm back to work, I'll resume working with my trainer 2x week and going 2-3 more times on my own for cardio.

How'd it go? Tell me about it. I'm also sooo bored of the liquid diet and i don't much like my shakes..........

Oh, i can't wait to sleep on my stomach...............

It went really well! Everything is healing perfect and I think that is due to my patience with being on the liquid diet. Just stick with it and it will pay off. I advanced to soft foods so I am so excited to have more variety! I told her I was so tired of the after taste the shakes leave in my mouth and she said I can suck on a sugar free lemon candy to sort of neutralize the taste. I have lost 7 lbs since surgery and 25 lbs since the pre-op diet so she was happy with that especially since there is no restriction in the band yet. Thanks for asking!

SDBandit, I had my 1st postop today too. My nutrionist gave me an A+ and put me on soft foods so I stopped at the store for some tilapia and green Beans for dinner. Eating canned tuna right now and it is soooo good. Especially the chewing. I asked the nutrionist about carbs and fats as well as calorie intake today since we all have been discussing that. She recommended me to never drop under 600 calories per day and never go over 1000. 800 is a good happy medium and I think I can live easily with that. Carbs to stay under 60, with no more than one fruit per day, Fat under 25 grams and Protein always over 64 grams. I think this is workable for me and she wants me to cut back to one Protein Shake a day and to try to get everything else from real food. I go back to the doc and the nutritionist again in 6 weeks unless I begin to get hungry and eat portions that are too large before then. He said my lack of hunger is due to the plication and we are going to try to let that work before he starts adjusting my band, no so fill in my immediate future and I am ok with that. Can start regular exercise in 3 weeks, for now just keep up walking and the like. He was happy with my progress. So it was a good visit for me.

Sounds like we both are on a similar path :). Mine went really well too, the healing, the diet, being able to tolerate all the liquids (what variety there is there). She said the port felt good. I am still a little swollen on the left side but she said it is because the stitches at the port incision are really tight but that my abdomen felt soft so that is normal. Congrats to a good appt!

I will admit that I did not follow my diet progression at all. It was supposed to be 2 weeks full liquids, then pureed, then soft food, then regular food. Week 2 after surgery I went to soft food....small bites and eating slowly but I am having no trouble. No vomiting, nothing feeling stuck.....no issues. My first post op appt. was yesterday and the Dr. said that it was normal that I was doing this and having no trouble because there is no saline in my band and to go ahead eating solid foods but to focus on the protein...which I am. Refried Beans today with shredded cheese was BANGIN for lunch!

So all I will say is this....if the liquids is killing you, just talk to your doctor....maybe you don't really have to be on the liquids for so long. I'm still getting my Protein in with the shakes and regular food and doing everything else I am supposed to so....so far so good.

My first fill is 10/11 and I cannot wait!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
