5-weeks Post-Op and not really losing

Recommended Posts

I am 5-weeks Post-op today and I really haven't lost but about 5lbs, I am watching what I eat and my calorie intake. I go back August 17th for my first fill and so afraid they will be upset with me not losing anymore than I have. I did start exercising about 2-weeks ago, going to the gym 4x per week. Is this normal not to lose a whole lot of weight until you get a fill? I have no problem eating just about anything, but do notice I can't eat as much as I used too.

I'm about 4 weeks post op and have the same questions as you! I've lost 8 lbs so far but since we are eating some much less and so much healthier; I wonder why it is not more. I am interested to see what the veterns reply! I just started exercising this week. My first fill is Aug 15. Wishing you much success!

I think its unrealistic to think that you will lose very much weight without restriction. I think its the downfall of a lot of mindsets on here. Wait until your band starts being filled before you worry. If you have good surgeons they will go over what you should be doing and working on the future not beating you up about the past.

I have lost 12 pounds since being banded. I had my first fill yesterday, I had lost 5 pounds since my post op visit. The doctor said any loss at this point is great because it is mostly will power since there is no restriction. I got 2cc in my band and was told I will get another 2cc's in a month. He said that I probably won't feel any restriction until I am at 4 or 5cc's. Just hang in there I hear it gets easier.

I am only 1 week post op but I have lost 9 lbs since surgery and a total of 32 lbs since starting the liquid diet. I guess it just varies from person to person. I did get the plication with the band so I hope to lose weight at a more rapid pace.

Thanks everyone! I guess I should clarify, since I've been on solid foods I've only lost 2lbs. In reality since the liquid diet and surgery I've lost over 20lbs. I was just hoping once the solid foods came in the picture I would still be losing more weight. Guess that's probably asking for too much.

I went in today for my 6 wk. visit. I was very upset that I had only lost 4 lbs in the 4 weeks since my last visit. My surgeon sat and held my hands because I was boo hooing! He reminded me that he told me to expect a 1 - 2lb weight loss per week. After he so caringly calmed me down I had my first fill. He reminded me to never ever be afraid to come in because of a low weight loss, he said it was his job to make sure I do lose weight, as long as I do my part, which I AM COMPLETELY! I couldn't be happier with my choice of surgeons. He does all the fills and appointments, and truly seems to care about his patients.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
