BUT... I held a fashion show for my hubby today and I got my favorite jeans pulled all the way up. I couldn't get them past my calves when I first started this process. I have to lose another 4 inches off hips to get them buttoned. I know my pattern of weight loss, so I'm thinking another 15 pounds and it is gonna be easy slipping into my jeans. No wiggling, sucking in needed or muffin top problems. I can't wait! I can't wait!

From what I've heard, PBing should be something that rarely happens....so if you're PBing "all the time" I think you need to record what you're eating and the quantities very carefully. Please stay in contact with your doctor - this is worrisome! Report your food logs to your doc or nutritionist so they can help you. Perhaps you're eating too fast, too much or not chewing - this should not be something that is taken lightly. The band can be damaged by doing this. :( I have a one minute sand timer that my doc office gave me to train myself to eat slowly. After using it for a week, I can see a difference. Maybe that would help? I just don't want to see you flip your band or damage it so it won't work anymore. Take care & let us know how you're doing!

My weight loss has been stalled for the last week. =( I know its just because its TTOTM but it's really disheartening... espeically with cravings! I've been eating WAY too much and PB all the time! This is really hard because I feel like I've lost a bunch of restriction even in the last two days or so! I'm really worried that I've stuffed up my pouch or something because my mushies may not have been as mushy as they needed to be... I've just been a mess this week because of starting back at school and everything. At least I don't graze at school and can really control my intake... I just wish it was as easy on weekends!!!

I am still REALLY struggling with the whole head hunger thing.... =(

On the upside, my jeans are falling down!

I don't know if it's technically PBing... it's usually like I'll have a spoonful too much of Soup or drink my Water too quickly and will hiccup it up. =/

I REALLY like the sand timer idea... I think timing is DEFINATELY an issue for me!

I'm going to try going back to liquids for a day or two... just to get back to basics.

I had the most horrific heartburn last night, at least that's what I think it was. My throat hurt and I kept coughing and the pain just would not subside no matter what I did. (tried maalox and tums). Has anyone else ever felt this?

I was banded on the 20th and wanted to ask if and when I would be able to lay on my side that the port is on. It is still really sore and hurts to lay on me side. Any tips?

Also I saw in previous posts the term PB'ing....what does that mean?laugh.gif

It was more than two weeks before I could lie on either side... I still can't really lie on my stomach!

Emily, you will eventually be able to lay any way you want, but give it time. I am 12 days out and finally feeling more comfort sleeping at night.

As for PB'ing, it is a "productive burp", a nice way of saying throwing up. It's one of those nasty side effects that banders have to be careful of. It happens if you eat too much too fast or without chewing well. I suggest you buy the book Bandwagon by Jean McMillan. It will tell you everything to need to know about this new lifestyle. I read it in like 2 days -- such a good read. She is knowledgeable and funny too. I think you'll really like it.

Oh, AlyGurl--me, too!!! My TOM is due at any moment, my weight loss has completely stalled, and it's all I can do not to eat everything in sight!! I have managed to avoid PBing, but I am fighting head-hunger and TOM cravings every minute of the day. *sigh*

It was probably about 2 weeks for me. I'm a side sleeping, but I found that sleeping on my back with a pillow or two under my knees helped me to be more comfortable. I was happy when I could sleep on my side again, I missed it.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to drop a line and say that the surgery went really well. I was banded last Friday July 22 and had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time. I feel better than I thought I would, but the shoulder pain feels worse than yesterday. Love the heating pad for that! I am on Clear Liquids only for 5 days and I am feeling hungry but the fear of causing my band to slip by skipping ahead will keep me from cheating. Happy to finally be on this side of the surgery!:bananajump:

Congrats!!! I was banded the 19th and also had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time! The pain in the shoulder was...well a pain! I think my 'gas' pains was the worst of it all though!! Mine finally subsided last night...was the 1st night I slept comfortably!! Well good luck with the liquid diet...Im so bored with it now and I'm ready for the mushy stage but like you I'm scared to mess anything up so I WILL NOT cheat!!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
