Congrats and I hope you feel better soon! Almost can't wait for the soreness, ready to go in less then 3 weeks. :)

Got my band yesterday. Got discharged this evening.

All went well, I don't remember how I fell asleep for the surgery, next thing I knew I was in recovery.

A few things for those of you who are getting it done this month....be prepared to be VERY sore..also you will have a lot of gas pains...mainly in your stomach and chest. You'll be hooked up to an IV (obviously) and you'll have a "happy button" for pain meds. Each time I pushed it I fell asleep. Get ready for Jello and broth too. That was on my food tray. :) All in all everything went well. Just be ready for the soreness. :) Oh and you will have a catheter.

Make sure you WALK WALK WALK as soon as you fill up to it. :)

Good Luck all!! Make sure you take a before surgery picture too!!

It's exciting to start my journey!!

I have all the initial banding stuff behind me now an feel pretty good. I was banded yesterday at about 1 an was done by 2:30. Dr. Fearing an the staff at New Hope were amazing. They are just an unbelivable group of kind an considerate people with a shout out to nurse Cheryl you rock!

Im able to get around pretty well an Im not in too much pain. I suppose after having 2 c-sections this seems like a breeze. Every once in awhile i get a slight gas pain n my belly but nothin in my shoulder yet. No nausea or vomiting Im already drinking Protein Shakes again an having popsicles without any issues.

Hope everyone is recovering nicely from their surgeries this week. It is such a relief its over with an im sure lots of you ladies an gents feel the same way. Luck to anyone that is doing it today youll do great.

Heather

Good luck with your recovery!

I think I have everything ready for my pre-op diet and surgery. Apart from 2 assignments I have left to do for university, and cleaning the house so I don't have to worry about doing it after!

For those that are banded already, how long until you were up and about? I know my doctor recommends me getting up and walking as early as possible, but how long till I can drive a car, or until I'll feel like doing grocery shopping or something?

I am happy that everyone who has had their surgery so far is feeling well. I feel much better than my surgery day. I'll be ready to return to my desk duties at work on Monday! For those of you with upcoming surgeries, do not underestimate the power of the ANESTHESIA  ! dom dom dommmmmmm! I never had incision pain or port pain (thanks to my "single incision") just couldn't stay awake long enough or stop getting sick because of the anesthesia. I am doing terrible at consuming my Protein requirements but I am a work in progress. Can't wait to hit the gym and pool and start losing. If I had the opportunity to do it again..............I would do it, with a major anesthesia disclaimer.

My surgery was Wednesday at 9am and they wanted me up and walking at 5pm. I began my walk at 6pm just because I needed a minute or 60 to get it together. That was only because I didn't take so well to the anesthesia. I drove my vehicle on Friday after a Wednesday surgery. It was a very short distance, maybe a quarter of a mile. I felt like going food shopping the same day but that's only because I like to push myself a little but my hubby refused. We are going today. I hope this helps.

I am 5 days post op, and I feel good just a little sore at incision sites, but nothing too bad, haven't had any gas pains just always feeling like I have a burp stuck in the esophagus, I was up and walking within a couple hours after my surgery, surgery was at 10 am and by 1pm I was walking the halls, the next day I even pulled off a shopping trip for about an hour and a half... yeah me, so far only trouble I am having is sleeping on my side I just cannot seem to do it it pulls and tugs on my port incision, so until i am able to tolerate sleeping on my side again its a recliner for me, hope everyone who is getting ready to or has been banded , has little to no effects

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
