Band removed and still cant hold anything down HELP!

I was banded August 2010. Everything went fine i could still eat everything i wanted to after surgery just small portions. It seemed like the band was working perfect. Then one day I got too ambitious and ate some roasted chicken with a couple of bites too big to pass so it got stuck. I went to er and eventually threw it up and didnt have any problems with it after it came up. Then a few deays later i started to realize I couldnt eat anything, i was having extreme heartburn and throwing everything up. Went to hospital multiple times telling them I couldnt eat and was feeling sick and they diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and acid reflux. It got so bad I had to go to er and have band removed. I had that done 10 days ago and surgeon said surgery went fine with not too much scar tissue but couldnt fix hernia while she was in there because there was scar tissue around it and she didnt want to cut into my stomach or esophagus. Now when I had it taken out it felt like some of the pressure went away but only problem is that I STILL cant eat anything heavier than pudding. Even that comes up and so does most liquids. Did anyone have band taken out and just leave it alone? If so how long until you could eat food after you had band removed? Im suppoesed to be going to vegas in 2 weeks so i want to be healthy and ok to fly and especially be able to eat something. anyone have any suggestions> Dr just said to give it more time and that eventually I should be able to eat something

This all sounds very strange. Makes one wonder how experienced your Dr is.

Normally if you are stuck with a complete blockage the Dr should remove all the fill. This lets the blockage pass and then afterwards he/she can start slowly refilling the band.

Yes the heartburn is a classic symptom of a too tight or slipped band. Again the first step here would normally be to remove some or all of the fill and see if it comes right.

The fact that they removed your band, did not put a new one in and you are still having problems would seem to indicate that there has been some kind of damage somewhere. Possibly it was due to the band being too tight, or maybe the Dr placed it incorrectly originally. It may also be from scar tissue. You should go back to your Dr and ask him/her to explain what the problem is. Maybe you need further tests . If you do not get satisfactory answers then fiinding a new Dr (and getting copies of your medical records) would seem to be the logical next step.

Good luck, I hope it all gets sorted out soon.
