Need Motivation to get back in for fill

Recommended Posts

I had my lapband 2 years ago and I had 3 fills. Never went back in. I have not been successful. I have kept off 27 pounds that I lost pre surgery and gained back 20. I was diagnosed with Celiac 3 months ago and Fibromyalgia issues that keep me in and out of the Gym. Great one week - feel like someone hit me with a Mac Truck for 3. So I need some motivation to get back in for a fill. I know I need to - I really don't want to hear the lecture or pay the money. But I KNOW I NEED TO. Any words of wisdom would greatly be appreciated. blink.gif

I've had my band for almost 6 years and did have great success (lost down to about 165 from 350) I got comfortable and slowly started gaining weight (had port problem and was unfilled for awhile) I felt like that train had already left the station and that gaining weight for me was just inevitable! I finally got sick enough of my weight controlling me AGAIN and sucked it up, went to the doctor (did NOT get the lecture I was expecting, thankfully) and got a fill! I am so excited to be getting back on the right track now.

Let me encourage you to go to the doctor....get that fill and you will get on the road to success!!!!! You got this band...USE it! :)

How much is the cost of the fill after you get done with your original "free times" approximately?

Did you go in, did you did you? Please say 'yes'. But if not, just do it, pick up the phone and make an appointment, You can do this! I know because I was reluctant to go back myself. Then I read about other slow losers/responders to fills and realized the whole thing is up to me. My doc can't read my mid and I haven't been completely honest with myself this past year, much less with him. I realize he band doesn't work for everyone but I'm not ready to give up yet. You have had some great success already so you know it works for you.

Well I did not go in until last week. He did not fill me because I have found out that I have celeiac, PCOS, and hypoglycemia and he wants me to see the nutritionist. I did and I am back on the band wagon. I do eat half of what I used to eat. I just need to follow the Protein ratio. I get hungry every two hours. So I am going to go get a fill the day after my birthday. ; ) I can not believe it has been a year. I have had a lot of health issues not due to the band. I feel so much better after cutting out gluten. I feel I am in a better place now. Thank you for your concerns ; )

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
