Hello Everyone,

I had surgery on 8/26/10 and have lost a total of 79 pounds, however, I now need help, I feel I have hit a plateau in my weight loss. I have only lost 2 pounds in 1 month and I feel I have hit a plateau, can anyone help by suggesting things for me to do. I was doing so good and now I hate myself. Thank you all for your help..

How much do you have left to lose?

As you get closer to your goal weight, the harder it gets to lose those lbs. Go back to your basics...are you keeping a food and exercise journal? review what your intake is and your exercise pattern. you might need to increase or possibly decrease your kcal intake or increase your exercise time, or you might have to "shake" things up a bit by changing your routine with both food and exercise.

Don't beat yourself up to badly, plateaus are expected. 2 lbs in a month is better than nothing. My loss started to slow and then was doing nothing. I started with the food and kcal, then went on to change up my exercise...I'd start to lose and then nothing for weeks, so I shake things up again...I have finally started to lose again so we will see how it works out.

Also, check your measurements alot of the time even though we may not be losing lbs, we do lose inches. Good luck!

It would help to know the following:

Are you keeping a food diary?

Are you exercising? What are you doing? How often?

How many calories are you eating?

What's your Fluid intake?

For females, are you still menstruating (causes weight fluctuations every month)?

First off check what you are eating. Make sure you are still on your diet.

If it's not your diet then try changing it up a little to jumpstart it.

I feel your frustration. I hit a plateau months ago- have lost maybe 4 pounds since Feb. Doc is happy- says I'm good. Trying to change things up for a kick - start

I've only lost 6 pounds since February. I just had my surgery in December and I'm only down 25 pounds.

So....I know it's hard, but stay encouraged. I know you'll get back on track.

I had my surgery October 29th. I hit a plateau in February and I haven't lost a pound. I understand that muscle weighs more than fat, but I feel like I should be losing at least a couple of pounds a month. I still have about 80 lbs to go.

How are your clothes fitting? Have you taken your measurements? I have lost very little weight in the last several months, however, I'm down sizes and inches. The scale doesn't tell the whole story!

@Cindy,

As far as my clothes, they continue to fit a bit looser, but the scale is still being stubborn with me. I have upped my Protein, increased my Water, excercise - you name it, I have tried it - even Phentermine (script from my dr). I just realized this morning that I am less than 20 lbs from the weight the PA at the doctor's office said I should be (exciting). I am going in for my TT next month - maybe I'll lose a little with that (maybe not), but I am hoping it will give me self-esteem a kick-start and get my butt back to working hard and not letting my band all the work for me

Yes, I can see inches and all my clothes are huge. So I know I am still loosing, but I would like the scale to move a little also.

I am right here with you! I have recently started limiting my carbs a bit. I will keep everyone posted.

That last 20 pounds is a b*tch! I'm in the same spot. I have lost so little lately and it IS discouraging. But....all of a sudden my 14s got loose and I had to go buy some 12s! Don't worry. The scale will eventually catch up! (or rather down!)

Don't be disappointed when the scale doesn't move right after your TT. Because of the swelling and drainage it took about 2 weeks for it to show up on the scale after I had mine.

Cindy,

How was the TT and the pain? How much did you lose after all swelling and such was over? I did have a NSV yesterday - I got "measured" at Victoria's Secret and I am down to a 36DD - I was quite excited

This last 20 is def a killer - but I just started using a hula-hoop so I am hoping that helps some toobiggrin.gif

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
