Banded on May 18 and feeling surprisingly good

Recommended Posts

*knock on wood* I'm a little sore and tired, but otherwise fine. No gas pain at all. I lost 9 pounds on the pre-op diet and need to lose 90 lbs altogether. Good luck all!

Also banded on the 18th and doing well. How are you guys getting your Protein in? I'm having a hard time getting all the liquids down much less worry about the protein.

Today is my first day of non Clear Liquids, but I started with greek yogurt that I mixed with 2 tbsp skim milk to thin and stirred in some no flavor Unjury Protein Powder. For snack I had a muscle milk chocolate. Total = 54 g of Protein.< /p>

I was banded on the 16th.. I am still a little tired and nauseated, and DEFINITELY having a problem getting my Protein. I had a little bit of gas pain the day after, but nothing too bad. I just feel... pressure? in my stomach. Like, I swallowed a blown up balloon~haha. The shake I am *trying* to drink (and I had in my pre-op diet and enjoyed) is made by GNC. It's called Total Lean. They have chocolate, vanilla, and Strawberry... I have the chocolate. To me, it's just like chocolate milk- and it has 25g of protein/bottle. Pre-Op, it's all I had. I loved it! Now, I am struggling to drink more than 2 sips without gagging. What's going on?

I also am having a problem with shakes i enjoyed prior to surgery!! I think my tastebuds changed or something. I also have a horrible taste in my mouth all the time, the nurse said that's probably from the meds. I'm trying to not take the pain meds anymore, only at bedtime but I still have the taste. Everything starts to taste the same too. ARGHH this is so frustrating!! I'm down 4 lbs since surgery on Wed so I shouldn't complain but i'm worried I'm not getting the Protein that I need!

I finally got down about 4oz of shake this morning. I had to force myself, and I still gagged afterwards, but now I feel much better. I felt very dizzy and lightheaded this morning, and I actually passed out on Wednesday... so I know that I have to make myself get the Protein in. I have to go back to work Monday, so I better get things on track! Hopefully I can keep the protein going steady today and get some nutrients in my body!

I was banded on May 13th, and I make sure I get 60g of Protein a day. In the morning I make an 8oz protein shack with skim milk thats 28g of protein, it may take me 2 to 3 hours to drink it. Then for the rest of the day, I went to the Vitamin shop and brought Isopure grape frost is pretty good, I sip on that and that is 20oz, 160cal, and 40g of protein. Right now I now my calories are low but I was told the most important thing in the beging is make sure you get your protein. Best of luck to everyone.

I was banded on May 18th also. I'm lucky I didn't have much incision pain and the gas pain was minimal. I have to be on clear liquids for a week before I can go to full liquids. I'm not having any problems swallowing my liquids. The Protein Shakes I'm on are called Necter. I really like the cappiccino one. Another good one is called Matrix Milk chocolate by Syntrax its really good. Taste just like chocolate milk.

I was banded on May 18th also! Glad so many are on the mark with me, now we're set...so let's go! Except it's not a sprint but more like a marathon, we will endure to the end, our prize will be our health, strength, and personal reinventions!

Gas pain - moderate

Abdomen pain - moderately so

Protein intake - I just started taking A New Whey Protein Shots - 42g of pure Protein, no carbs, no sugar!

Banded on the 18th too :) Guess that was a good day! Absolutely no pain here :) Haven't been drinking my Protein Shakes because the thought makes me feel sick. I need to start drinking them though so I don't end up losing my hair. My hair's my "money maker" considering I'm a cosmetologist. Anyway, good luck with your journey!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
