Frustrated in New Jersey

Recommended Posts

I was banded in August 2010, I have 4.5 cc's in my band and have lost 60 pounds. I have had NO problems with my band. In March I decided to use fill centers usa because my dr is too far away and because I was just not happy with his bedside manor. I had one fill at Fill Center USA and and it went well. Went back two weeks ago and It was very hard to access my port. After being stuck 6 times with no fluro I decided this is not good and the Dr said my port may have flipped or be stuck in a pocket.

Today I saw a different local dr after finally getting access to my medical records which after 5 phone calls and 5 faxes I finally got- only to find out they are so poorly written, my age is incorrect and there are so many blanks in the record. This guy was the worst DR I have seen, very arrogant very rude and completely bad mouthed the Realize band. Told me my weight loss was ok?? and told me I had to see the original surgeon.

I do not want to go back to my original DR but I'm beginning to think that it may be my only option. Does anyone know of a good Dr in New Jersey who uses Realize Bands?

Also if my port was flipped, wouldnt I feel it? Or be in pain? Anything?

Try Dr. Strom - he is awesome and his entire staff is very professional. He was rated the top Doc in NJ in his field. Someone who was paying out of pocket for fills was seeing a different doctor and they started to add up quickly ($250 a fill) Doctor Strom said he would do it for $50 a fill. I am not from North Jersey (about an hour away) but I wouldn't go to anyone else!

Where in NJ are you located? I use Dr. Goyal at NJ Bariatric Center in Union, I believe they also have an office in Hoboken. So far I've had a wonderful experience with them. Great bedside manor especially Dr. Jack, maybe I'm biased but her being a woman puts me a little more at ease. But Dr. Jack, Dr Goyal and Dr Forrester are all great personable doctors. They have a wonderful caring staff, even down to the billing personal, if you are self pay they really try to give you options you can handle. Very nice and supportive on site nutrionists, they also have support meetings once a month.

I have a realize band, they deal with both realize and lapband patients. I don't know if they take patients that were previously banded under other doctors though, but if you are in the area it's worth a try. Good luck to you!

I use Advanced Laproscopic Surgeons in Florham Park. They are all great. If you are in the area you should give them a call..

Best Lapband Dr in South Jersey.....Dr Adam Goldstein! Just had my band done on the 11th. I had pain for about 36 hrs. after that I feel great. Not taking any chances but OMG! My recovery time has been incredibly quick. Not bad for my first surgery ever, I'm execited as I am now headed into day 9, Only 2 more days on liquids, start on Puree Saturday!

http://www.njbariatriccenter.com/ I absolutely love them! I believe it's exit 140 on the parkway (Union location), probably a bit of a drive but worth it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
