Only on day 1 of pre-op diet and already hungry/bored...HELP!!

Ok, so this is turning out to be harder than I expected.

Does anyone have any recommendation on how to spice up the Protein shakes?

My pre-op diet consists of 3 Protein Shakes (25+g protein/less 8g sugar) and then a basic healthy meal for dinner (think: chicken breast, salad, veggies, piece of fruit). So I do realize I'm fortunate to at least have one regular meal involved, but I have to say I've only had 2 of my chocolate whey protein shakes and I'm already hungry and bored with the taste.

This morning i put ground coffee in the shake, which didn't work out as I hoped, as I ended up chewing on coffee as I drank it...however, now I'm realizing that may not be such a bad thing to keep mixing up the flavor a bit. I've even thought about putting pepper in the shake for an added flavor. Any suggestions??

It's going to be a long two weeks!!

  • Oh also, if you're looking for something other than choc. shakes, I've been drinking Syntrax Nectar protein. It's made out of whey protein isolate (my nutritionist said that's the best kind) and it's

A few ideas...I'm on the same diet, kind of. I can have 2 Protein shakes, 4 oz of lean protein & 1/2 cup of veggies daily. No sugar in anything...and that includes natural sugars in fruit (which I miss A LOT!) I used to eat a banana and apple daily...and add blueberries & strawberries. Oh I miss those...but it'll be worth it!

Anyways....the protein can also be eggs, so I've been scrambling eggs with veggies and making an omelette. I don't like red meats so I've been chicken one night, scrambled eggs the next night. I just got a message back from my nurse and she said I can also have a vegan boca burger. :) Those are so good! So maybe try venturing out and trying some of those options.

Also...as far as the sugar, if the dr leaves it up to you, you may want to consider cutting out the sugary yogurt. I was told it causes cravings for more carbs and my cravings have calmed down quite a bit without the sugars. :)
