Hi. hope I'm posting this correctly in the right spot!

I'm a young 52, very short and weigh 192-197 and am having band on may 12th. I'd LOVE someone to chat with someone on the phone maybe once a week. Someone with a sense of humor, essentially upbeat and has had success with the band. I'm typically optimisitc and positive...but can be a little bit of a nervous nellie around medical stuff. I live in NYC, but you don't have to. I'd probably do better with someone around my age (45-60) who has some wisdom and virtual hugs to share. :)

I'm nervous about the surgery but also nervous about how to adapt to such a drastic change in food habits. I'm having trouble even imagining it!

Thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to respond to this. it's good karma to help someone out! :)

I'm a career coach so maybe I can help you out too.

Hugs,

Bandedkitten

Aloha Bandedkitten,

I am new on LapBandTalk.com, but, have had much success with the lapband since July 2009 when I had it put in me. If you would like to contact me, you can reach me at 808-443-8201, (HAWAII) my cell phone number. I would like very much to encourage you, as you take steps in preparation to a wondrous journey. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetus and high blood presure in 2002 due to my weight gain. Since I have had my lapband I have lost 98 pounds and....no longer taking any high blood pressure or diabetis medication, hooplahhh! How good is that! I understand if you are a little leary about calling me, I would be too! May 12th is coming up real soon and I too was afraid, but yet excited. It has been worth it! Call me!

Sincerely,

Nico

Hi Nico

thanks so much for your sweet email! I'll definitely call you. I'm having surgery on Thursday..I'm in the liquid diet phase and I'm very grouchy! :)

I am excited and nervous about this new journey...wondering how I'll handle the emotional aspects of not overeating..it's all interesting and scary and cool.

hugs,

bandedkitten

Hey Cindy

Thanks so much for replying--it's amazing how nice people are on here.....I love hearing success stories like yours. I'm not a yankee fan (don't follow sports) so you're safe! :)

I'll report back in 2 days when it's "over"----or really just beginning, right? :)

hugs,

bandedkitten

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
