Hi Rachel! Was banded the 15th. I feel like from a beter diet my energy level is way up, but sometimes I just drag. I finally started seeing the scale go down in the past 1-2 days. 20 pounds total since a week before surgery. I was getting a little down seeing it not change day to day!

Time does fly!!! April 1st all ready and we are looking back! Hope everyone is recouping ok!!! I am 5 days post op! I was banded on 3/28, the gas is still a huge problem. I am not really hungry but trying to drink! My doctor had me on Clear liquids 2 days post op, yesterday I started my full liquids! I can only eat 1/2 of a pudding at a time, maybe 3 cc's of Protein shake, 4 cc's of creamed Soup (I did make potato Soup all low fat I squished the potato's to mush and did have to bite a couple), I got paranoid so I am going to strain all Soups from now on!!! I take sips of H2O in between!

I did have an episode of gagging that scared me!!! I tried to open a Colace (stool softner) and put it in Jello, NEVER EVER do this. It tasted like horrible ooey, gooey motor oil. It smelt like hot tires. I gagged and it hurt my port!!! That has been my worst episode since I have been home! Gagging was rough, I couldn't figure out how to stop gagging until I kept rinsing my mouth out!!!

I did call the doctor and get my 2 week follow up appointment and the nurse said, don't worry about the gagging and not going to the bathroom, it's normal!! I will stick to prune juice when the time comes!!!!

For all of you who are having a rough time, I hope each day gets better!

Peace,

Joleen

Jolene...my cure all for Constipation is a shot (dose) of milk of magnesia mixed with 2-4 ounces of prune juice & warmed up till it's pretty hot. It's called a black & white :-)

So, I went to our weekly bible study group for the first time since surgery. It's always potluck. I took greasy corn chips & homemade guacamole. I managed to only eat about 4 chips with a tiny bit of guac, had fruit on the side (strawberries, apple, grapes) and had a turkey burger made with lettuce for the buns! I was proud of myself. I did indulge in dessert (chocolate covered strawberries) but kept it reasonable. I worry about putting myself in one of these party settings, with temptation. I;ve avoided going to a few things cause I knew there owuld be lots of bad-for-me food, but I know eventually it's something I'll have to face.

Hi all, I was banded exactly one week ago. I have friends who had this done and they recommended gas-x and as much walking as possible. Day 2 and 3 were hard but day 4 was much better and now I'm fine. I still get tired. But I can do more longer. I've been getting hungry so today I got some unflavored Protein Powder and mixed it with crystal light and thats better than Isopure. I don't get full liquids for another week. I kind of dread going back to work and facing all food smells.

good tip on the Protein powder!!! I eat gas x like they are going out of style, but it only works so much, yes walking helps too!!

Well it is good to catch up and see how everyone is doing. I had my surg yesterday and came home this afternoon. I know they gave me extra Fluid in the OR-my BP drops with anesthesia so not really surprised my weight is up-didn't really expect 8 pounds though. I know it will go back down. They told me as long as the Soup and juice go ok today I can progress to thinned oatmeal and cream of wheat tomarrow. I see my doctor next Fri for my first post op check up. Doing alot of walking arouond the house-scared a few of the nurses being up in the middle of the night and walking the halls. (lol) I now know what you guys were all describing of that "gas bubble" that won't go away, Had a half Protein Shake earlier and boy did it fill me up. Keep up the good work everyone!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
