First Fill 2cc's.... enough???

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill last friday. It was only 2cc's. I expected to feel some restriction, but I feel nothing. Actually, I feel hungrier. I am to go back in one month, which he said would also be 2cc's. This seems very conservative to me, but I am new....so advice please... is this conservative? Im also reading that many doctors have you drink Water during the fill to see if is adequate, he does not do that. Im just feeling a little worried and need some reassurance. Thanks so much!!

Hi, I got my first fill 2cc's 2 weeks ago. I also feel no different but hungry. I go to the gym 5 days a week and do cardio and haven't lost a pound. It' s a little discouraging. I hope the next fill works for both of us

Hi Ladies,

Surgery date 12/9/09. I 've had 5 fills, all 1-2cc's most of them were too tight I had to go back because I was choking at night, and I was eating maybe 1/2 of Protein and veg. I was very discourgaged that I made a bad choice, I went back to my doc, and I had her put in 1/3 of cc at a time as I tried it out. I am finally in that magical "Green Zone" In your cases mabe the size of your band is bigger and you need more Fluid, If you are hungrier after a fill, DO NOT WAIT A MONTH, you can gain weight, call your docs and tell them you are eating more and feeling hungrier. Gym gal. GOOD FOR YOU! You may just need more Protein since your hitting the gym, that's what I figured out after I did a boot camp and did not loose a darn thing! First fills are hard because ya don't know what to really exspect but if you have a good fill it should feel like it's taking a few minutes for your food to go down once you swallow, Good luck!

. I had my first fill today. 4cc's. Dr put in 5cc's, but the water I drank felt like it was in my chest, so took 1cc out. I did have to drink water, several good sips. It didn't hurt at all. Dr said I had a thin abdominal wall (not squishy fat) which makes it easy to find my port. I go back in 8 weeks. Said 1 pd a week was fine. Evidently the body adjusts to fills, so next visit I can get more fill if necessary. It takes time to find the right amount Dr. said. I had surgery $eb. 7th and have lost 33 pds so far. Dr. Said it was good. My Dr had me drink water & I do think that is necessary when getting a fill. Thank you for listening to my fill experience! :)

Everyone is different. I got my surgery on Valentine's Day this year! Myself, along with my sister, got our first fill yesterday - I got 2 1/2cc's, and my sister got 3cc's. Everyone's different when it comes to how much/how little Fluid is needed. If you're still feeling hungry, you may need more Fluid put in. When you get a fill, you're supposed to feel full in between meals. Have you tried the actual lap band website? it's www.lapband.com - it has a lot of information, and yummy recipes :)

Thanks for all the advice. scale moved down 2 pounds, so that was encouranging, but I am feeling hungry ALOT! I am going to call and see if the will give 2nd fill sooner than 1 month. He seems very conservative, so I don't know if he will. Thanks again :)

Wait the full four weeks before you get your second fill. Fills don't always show their full impact immediately. The band won't make you less hungry - it will just help keep you full longer when you eat and allow you to eat less to reach that point.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
