lap band success stories?

Recommended Posts

I post here all the time with few complaints! I've lost 126 lbs., half of my body weight from my highest weight presurgery. I'm off of blood pressure medication, my joints and especially my feet don't hurt anymore, I started running last summer and have completed a half marathon, with training for a full marathon starting in a week. I'm a size 2 to 6 depending on the clothing brand, and have never looked better in my life (including my younger skinny days). The band journey was very easy for me--started a bit slow at first, but once it got started, I never hit a plateau. And on top of all of that, me and my pics are featured on my doctor's website as a success story. :)

Super WOW weight loss! Congrats on your marathons as well!

:drum: Drum roll please! Your :clock: has come!

I have been having discouraging thoughts lately about my weight loss journey. So, I took a step back and re evaluated. I have lost 62 lbs so far in 1 year. Thats a little over 1 lb per week. I know that I would not have lost this amount of weight any other way because I tried everything before being banded. I am working out regularly and able to get outside and play with my kids. I have dropped 3 sizes so far. I just feel better. I highly recommend having it done but its a personal decision. I would still like to lose 50 lbs and I am going to do it slowly. Slow and Steady wins the race!! Good luck!

I'm getting my BAND on Monday (4/18) and I'm here to read your stories....thanks everyone. I'm scared...not of the surgery but the "after life." I'm sort of mourning things already if that makes sense...I'm scared of how I'm going to feel when I wake up and I'm scared of how I'm going to react to these new changes that MUST be made. I feel pretty ready and prepared, but can we ever be. Thanks for the inspiration...these are good stories to hear when you need them.....

I consider myself another success story. I was banded 3 years ago in July. I started at around 250 pounds and now I am 150 pounds. My advice is to follow your Doctors instructions. That's what I did & it does work! Feel free to send me a message if you have questions or want more info on my band experience.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
