Hello everyone. I just got home last night about 6pm and had my surgery at 1pm the day before. It seems as though it went well, the doctor spoke to my husband right after surgery and said that I had very little fat around my liver, which I guess is a good thing. When he released me yesterday, he just said to keep moving to keep the gas from settling, but I think I have not escaped that discomfort.sad.gif I can easily deal with all the other little aches and pains, but my shoulders are killing me. I have this week off and then am heading back to work on Monday the 28. I really hope the pain has subsided. I teach school and really don't want to be distracted by this pain. How long has it lasted for you? Also, how is everyone getting those neat trackers on their page? I would really like to put one on my profile as well; I think it would help me feel better about the weight coming off. About how long does it take for the weight to start coming off? I'm kind of impatient to start seeing results, though I know won't be immediate, I a, excited just the same. Good luck to everyone out there!tongue.gif

I had my band put on the 17th as well! I am feeling ok. Pretty sore and a bit gassy in the shoulder as well.....i am just resting this weekend and plan on going back to work this Monday....My port area felt warm this morning so I was called in antibiotics......Overall I think I am doing fine!

It took me about 5 days before I felt like most of the gassy pains were gone.

As far as the ticker. If you click on my ticker it will open the website where you create your ticker. When you get to the end part you will need to copy the information and then paste it in your signature of your profile here. I know those are terrible directions. Maybe someone else can give you better ones.

I had my lap band on March 11th. I had severe left shoulder pain that radiated into my neck for almost a week. I was at the breaking point because nothing would help. I called my doctor after 6 days and he told me to go ahead and try ibuprofen. I know it is something they tell you not to take right after the surgery, but i did it with the doctors guidance. It was the miracle fix........i could not believe that it worked. I had been taking several different narcotic pain meds that didnt touch the shoulder pain. As far as my incisions.......they are all doing fine. I hope this helps......good luck.

i had mine done on 3/15 and finally today i'm feeling pretty good and almost like normal. had bad neck pain. everyone kept saying that the more you move and do a little deep breathing if possible, that that's the best thing to resolve gas pain. i made sure that i got up and walked around a bit at least every 2 hours. hope that helps!

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences, that helps so much. I just would like very much to move past the gas pain and onto the next thing. I feel like I am getting up quite a bit and moving around but maybe it's just not enough. I will try more tomorrow. Are any of you feeling hungry right now, at this early stage? I go between feeling hungry and nothing at all. I don't think I'm eating enough, but am trying to avoid added pressure to shoulders by eating too much. Guess we all just have to find that personal happy medium.

Thanks, Beth

I was banded on 3/8 and I had gas pain for 3 or 4 days. You just gotta walk, walk, walk. They told me in the hospital that if you are watching tv to just get up everytime the commercial comes on and walk around the house. I'm not ready for anything more demanding yet. My pain settled in around my heart and in between my shoulder blades. It made it hard to breath, or even think! It does go away tho, walk!

hi beth:

i'm on about day 5 and feeling really good. i too felt like i wasn't drinking enough on the first couple days. i just didn't feel well and it was hard. and then on the 3rd day, i started taking in too much Protein shake at one time and got chest/band pains. realized i was drinking too much at once and cut it down to about 4 oz and pain went away. it's one of those things you just need to experiment with, but do it SLOWLY. be gentle with yourself.

hope you're feeling better now!

I was banded in October and my biggest recommendations are: Gas X strips, peppermint tea and a heating pad for the shoulder pain. The heating pad helped tremendously with the shoulder pain.

This has been so helpful, I am really feeling a lot better now. Called my Dr. office and am now thinking that the pain may be from the angle my head/neck was placed in during the surgery. It is also the place where I carry all my stress, so I am just going to have to give myself time and a couple trips to my massage therapist. Thank goodness my family is being patient with me, they place no pressure on me and are very supportive. The tremendous pressure in my chest and abdomen has subsided and thankfully I am getting up and out much more. It's funny, but the most filling thing I can eat right now is Tomato Soup. It really works! Other than that, I haven't found anything that fills without bloating. What about you guys? How is the diet going?

Beth

Oh, and seem to have lost my first 1/2 pound. Maybe it's just Water, but I'm feeling happy!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
