Liza, Good Luck to you. I'm so excited I can't sleep.

I can't get the tickers to work for me.

I for the longest time was over 200lbs couldn't lost weight. The past 3 months I lost 25lbs due to being under stress.

I was 190lbs on March 31st... April 12th I was 182lbs..Now I am 178lbs. My goal weight is 130lbs.

Hi! were you in pre-op class on 4/21? If so, I was there! I don't remember talking about coming to the website, though. What date is your surgery and who is your surgeon??

Hope everything went well. When you're up to it, let me know how things are going, how you're feeling etc. Remember, today is the first day of the rest of your life!!

The 11th will be here before I know it.

Marcia

Hey! I'm feeling better. it's a bit painful and I'm sore but totally worth it. I had 1/4 cup of chicken broth and have been full for hours. It's an amazing feeling. It's definitely the beginning of a new life :)

So, have you started pre op diet?

I'm being banded May 19th at London's Princess Grace Hospital. I'm very excited yet nervous. My surgeon isn't requiring the pre-op diet so I'm interested in what you are consuming. Will this be the same liquid diet you'll consume after the surgery? I think I will be on Clear Liquids for 2 weeks post op, mushy x 1 week and than regular. I'd really love to have an example of a typical day of the clear liquids. Does anyone know of a site that lists foods approved for the lap band diet post op? My husband is in the US Air Force stationed in the UK. I think that they are a little more relaxed on the pre-op diet here. I'm a little concerned that I should be stocking up on food before hand but have no idea. I was told I would see the nutritionist before discharge. It seems to be go with the flow attitude over here. Hard for my type A personality. Anyway ... any help would be appreciated.

On a side note: How do you get that ticker?

Every surgeon is different. my pre-op diet consists of Protein Shakes (5 per day) supplemented with broth, Jello, popsicles and lots of Water. after surgery it will be pretty much Clear Liquids only. i'll be able to have 2 Protein shakes per day, diluted if they are too thick, plus the broth and drinks with an approved amount of calories. i will be having mostly V8Splash and Fuze because that is what i have stocked up on. you should maybe call your surgeon's office and see if there is an approved list of drinks/foods that you can consume post op.

this liquid pre-op diet hasn't been a walk in the park, but i definitely am not as scared to go to an all liquid diet after surgery as i would have been had i just gone cold turkey. as much as i have griped about it, i'm glad i did it.

tomorrow is the big day for me....though i am having 2nd, and 3rd, and 4th thoughts about it. i'll just keep having 2nd thoughts about it until my mind gets back to "yes, let's do this":D

I start my liquid diet tomorrow and my surgery is May 11th!!! I'm so excited. The nurse at the hospital said a guy wan't allowed to stay over night with me at the hospital. Does that mean my husband wouldn't be allowed? I'm having a friend stay with me anyway so my husband can go to work the next day. Hopefully they'll allow her to stay.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
