Hello,

I'm happy to see that most of us lost this week and that all of us are heading in the right direction with our motivation, goal setting and attitudes. Keep up the good work!

Hello! I had a pretty good week. I am down 3 pounds. I know it sounds crazy but I reduced my workouts some and on the days I did workout I tried to eat a little more. I think our bodies need a little break sometimes.

I agree that when we mix things up it keeps our bodies/metabolism guessing.

Sorry all it's been a busy day today! I maintained this week but I have stopped drinking with my meals. Finally! I've also been timing my meals and stop at 20 minutes even if I'm not at that full sensation yet. I've also picked up a new hobby. Believe it or not it's Metal Detecting! I get to hunt treasure and get exercise at the same time. I LOVE it! I do it with one of my other friends and she's loving it too. All the walking and arm work and then squatting to dig what treasure I have found. Simply amazing. Ok done blabbing! Hope everyone has a good week!

What a fun way to get exercise, share fun with a friend and potentially get rich. too!

Hi Tami checking in at 213.0 as of yesterday morning! WHOOHOOOO I'm officially down 50lbs!!! Thanks for all the motivation.

CONGRATULATIONS on your 50# loss!! That is awesome!

Have a great day, Joan

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. Its because I had nothing good to report :-( Its been a tough couple of days for me. Trying not to beat myself up but its been frustrating. Today was better. I'm up a couple pounds but I never mark the weight increases (unless its significant). As long as the trend is downwards, Im happy with it. Hopefully I'll have something good to report next week. We'll see.

TKW = 338

WOW down six pounds. I have been on the wierdest pattern. I'll go 2-3 weeks and struggle with the same one or two pounds then I'll get on the scale one day and be down 6-8 pounds, then I'll go up and down 1-2 pound for a couple of weeks and then bang... down 6-8. This has been going on for 3 months. Crazy, but I'll gladly take it!!!

6 pounds till I hit 100 pounds lost!!!!!

HAVE A GREAT WEEK EVERYONE!

Checking in with my weigh in for this morning...

Vicky~283.4 (down 1.4 from last week). Overall, I'm happy with this considering I didn't exercise at all during the week. I leave today for a 3 day business trip (my first since being banded). I am interested to see if I still need a seat belt extender after having lost almost 42 lbs and to see if my band tightens up when I fly like a lot of people's do. There is a fitness center in my hotel so hopefully I can squeeze in some treadmill time...including my workout clothes when packing is a first for me :D !

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
