Happy New Year everyone!

I enjoyed the last version of this thread---great idea to start it again.

Life here is good! My most recent fill (now at 4.5cc) this week is working well. I am losing weight again....and feeling satisfied for 3-5 hours after eating. Keeping my fingers crossed that this lasts for a while. I already have my next fill scheduled in 3 weeks, just in case......small adjustments from here on out.

Enjoy the holiday everyone!

Jackie

Hey Everyone! Happy new year. I'm looking forward to the new year and I'm glad about the new thread, hopefully more people will feel free to join in.

Shammah-- I bet your worrying for nothing, you have plenty of time to get there by April! Congratulations on your 1 year!

Denise-- I'm glad your MIL is doing better, especially since it seems the SIL is doing more, I hope things stay stable for you.

Melody-- I like your plan to get back on track.

Welcome to the new people!

I have been eating total crap, tomorrow will be the last day to have this stuff in the house, I don't even dare step on the scale, I will on Monday so I will know what I am working with but I feel like I have gained at least 5 pounds. But at least its not 20 like in the past. My problem has been total laziness, its easier to eat crap than it is to eat right, when I eat junk I don't have to pay attention like I do when I eat solid Protein.

For those of you not on Facebook, I have started making sausages and all kinds of Charcuterie meats.. East Texas has a over supply of wild pigs that my husband has been hunting and I just made one into Italian sausage (both spicy and sweet) and today I am going to grind the rest combined with lamb and make Greek Gyro meat. I forgot to tell him to save the liver for Pate but I will next time. Plus I also used the bones to can pork stock for my Beans and Mexican Soups.

OK I think I figured out how to embed a youtube. Here is Sugarbaby.

What a cute puppy!

Happy New Year everyone, hope its everything you want it to be. Peaceful, prosperous, healthy and slim!

I have had a horrible head/neck ache for the last couple of days - do you think it's my band?

LOL only kidding - it just seems though that once banded some people blame every ache or pain or problem on it. I think it's a tension headache but I'm not sure why.Maybe its a s result of having both kids and the hubby home so my routine has been changed! Lack of sleep from having a chainsaw in bed with me and a cat that keeps trying to break into my room at night probably doesn't help much either.

Leigha I know what you mean about eating crap. I also need a clearout. There is till far too much chocolate, cake, cream etc in this house and yes I have been eating it. I am still under 52kg so it's not too bad yet but if I don't stop it will be. Got to get myself back in check. Your new puppy looks adorable and the foods you have been making look amazing. Personally I'm not a fan of hunting but I am impressed with your use of the beast!

Weather here has warmed up at last. NYE was 40deg C. Yesterday was cooler but still pleasant. Some parts of Australia have had the most horrific flooding. I don't know if it has made the news there but it is awful, whole communities have had to be evacuated, hundreds of houses are under Water. Nature can be very cruel.

I am considering whether I need to go back to the Dr for an adjustment. I am getting hungry sooner and am able to eat more and quicker. But I don't want to end up too tight . Maybe I should go along anyway just for a checkup and see what he says.I need to be careful as we are going away with friends at the end of Jan and I don't want to have any issues then.

Looking forward to hearing everyone elses news.

Jackie: Congrats on the weight loss!

Elcee & Leigha: Step away from the food. ;) Yesterday I cleaned out my pantry, boxed up all the 'temptations' and told my husband to take them somewhere. I didn't care whether he tossed them, donated them or ate them (out of my sight) but to get them out of the house. All the goodies I baked for Christmas were left at my mother-in-law's so I never had to deal with any of that at home, thank goodness!

Leigha: Keep those FB videos coming of Sugarbaby.

Nothing like the new year to get back where we need/want to be. Made it through the holidays without too much pain. Only had the two youngest over for the holidays and was very controlled during holiday celebrations elsewhere. The house has already been cleared of the tempting foods and I am ready to continue on with my path in life.:)

I guess it's time for me to join this thread, too! I have read almost all of the original and it seems like you gals are the most experienced bandsters out there on the forum right now :) When I first started posting to LBT, I felt there were a lot of folks who posted frequently and I could relate to. Now the "vibe" has changed for some reason :( I still get on almost every day though. Definitely interested in keeping up e-relationships with banded people - I'm a "closet" bandster and need to be able to share with people that are like me! I'm coming up on my 6month month bandiversary and am bearing down on a 50 pound loss since I started with the pre-op. I am VERY happy with my decision! I am probably at my sweet spot as of my last micro-fill on Dec 20. I have read how some gals say they get tighter during their TOM which I have never noticed. However, THIS month I have noticed a huge difference with that. It could also be that I was 11-12 days out from my last fill and the fill "kicked in" a bit more. Have to watch and see as I am realizing that if I stay this tight, it might not be a good thing. All meat has been difficult to get down, with the exception of some fish I cooked today - it was great and tasted sooo good as I have been only able to eat mushy stuff and small quantities of it to boot the last few days. Tonight's dinner (roast pork and sauerkraut, of course!) went much better as well. Enjoyed my NY's eve last night. Hubs and I had 3 parties to stop by at and say hello to friends and family. Last party was some friends we had not seen in a while. Got so many gasps of how good I looked...it felt awesome and I practically had to pinch myself to believe that I have accomplished what I have accomplished so far! I'm in onederland to stay and am wearing size 14's again. I am past the halfway mark to my goal and hope to reach it by my one year mark. I have a son graduating from high school this year and am having a big party in May. I'm working hard to get my house and myself in shape for the big event! I am training with a friend to run a half-marathon in May as well. I always write a letter to myself and pack it away in the Christmas decorations to read next year. My letter from last year talked about how I was in the worst shape of my life and I wrote a future question to myself , "Did you do anything about your health in 2010?" It felt so good to read my letter and know that I did do something. Something big. Something that has changed my life :) Let's all rock in 2011!!!

I am officially joining this thread! If it were not for the special people on this site I would have never been able to get through the past couple of months. Not that I have had any physical issues, but the emotional ones have been lulus! The support is incredible and the information extremely valuable, as long as I keep in mind that everyone is different.

I too am happy that these holidays are over and although I am not happy with how I handled it I have to admit that in previous years the damages had been much greater. It is all about perspective sometimes. Here's to a bright and successful weight loss 2011!

Welcome to the thread newbies.

Melody and others who I told about the quilting, I finished the quilt. I couldn't figure out how to post pics in a thread so I posted them in my blog. The pics make the quilt look a bit crooked, but that is just because I had it thumbtacked over my front door to take the pics. The quilt turned out very nice and I'm proud of how it turned out. My sone loves it and that is what matters. Now I'm trying to figure out my next project to keep me away from grazing.

Welcome everyone. New Year, new start. Forgive yourself for the bad food during the holidays. That is our official pardon :D

I actually have been doing good this week and exercised three times. Going to the doctor Monday so had to try and maintain. Losing with all the banana pudding around was not going to happen.lol

Leigha-- you are right. Besides I know how to beat the system. The dog is cute, but I just like admiring others instead of my own.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
