8 days post surgery

Recommended Posts

Im a single mom of a 7 year old boy living in Florida. Ive been contemplating getting this lap band since last year, after my failed attempts at dieting.

I gained about 100lbs when i got pregnant, figuring since i was eating for two i can eat anything i want! Wrong..

Well its been 8 days since my surgery (banded november 10th). The first few days after were really rough and i thought the gas left in my abdomen was going to kill me! After walking a few miles and taking some Gas-X, I was better by day 4. Right now i do not have any liquid in my band since they said everyone is different and didnt want my stomach to swell so tight that i couldnt get anything down.

My first fill is dec 3rd. I wish i could get it sooner because im starving!! even though im supposed to be eating Soup and pureed foods, Im eating pretty much whatever i want just smaller portions and chewing it so much that its pretty much pureed. So far ive lost 14lbs mostly due to the liquid diet before surgery. I am looking forward to the future and am inspired by some of your photos and how great everyone looks. :blushing:

Please stay on your prescribed diet..You stomach needs time to heal and you can really damage your pouch...I know that it is hard but go back to square one and do not get off course..Best of luck to you...

Congrats on being banded but..I have to say you NEED to follow your post-op diet. It doesn't matter if you chew chew chew; you have a post-op diet, just like everyone else, for various reasons. Doctors don't just create the things for their own satisfaction, it is to give your stomach time to heal after surgery. Eating normal foods at such an early stage could really do harm to your stomach.

The whole thing with the band is being compliant and well..you aren't. It's hard but try to do the diet you were told to do. You're putting yourself at risk for complications, especially if you're 'eating whatever you want.'

Im a single mom also with a 7 year old girl. Anyway I was banded on the 17th and suppose to be on clear liquid for 1 week. I was starving so I called dr yesterday to see if I could add Protein Shakes and they said no. They told me they dont want your body to try to digest anything right now, they want it to heal. I'm the type unless you tell me why I dont listen, which I know is immature. So please listen so you dont have further problems. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
