Questions about Gas after fill

Recommended Posts

I am very close to my sweet spot.. in fact this could be it.. the restriction is very good since my fill a week ago.. if it lasts..

But I have had horrible gas pain and some stomach pain.. very odd I have not had this since after my surgery. this was my 4th fill and it is kicking my butt.

Has anyone else had this? Does it pass ( no pun intented)? Or do I need an small adjustment? What has worked for you to feel better... it is ouchy! thanks

I am wondering if it is in fact...gas!

I am guessing that the pain is coming from the Vagus nerve. One of the jobs of the VN is to control hunger.

Its origin is in the stomach wall and travels up toward the left shoulder, under the left clavicle, up the left neck and finaly into the brain.

So, my theory is that when we get a fill, it stimulates, and in-turn, inflames the vagus nerve causing pain along its natural path in the neck and shoulder (left)

Or..maybe you have gas!

Well I know that food triggers mine anything sugar free, peppermint, cinnamon I have always had gas from the beginning and I dont think its because any band is too tight. There are just some things that will make your stomach more sensitive after surgery because your pouch is so small. I would say stick to what you can eat and if anything causes you gas either bare with it or leave it alone. I had to give up coffee period, and a lot of seasonings. I cant eat sugar free candie, pops or anything because they tear me up. Just some suggestions.

I had my 4th fill about a month ago and initially was excited because it was the first one where I really felt a difference. But then in the first week, the gas came. I get it when I'm hungry and when I eat. I have these incredibly loud, bubbly sounds coming from my stomach that are very embarrassing and very uncomfortable. I work in close proximity to my colleagues and everyone hears my stomach. The gas is so uncomfortable because its just stuck and can rarely pass from either end. I feel it in my upper stomach, my lower stomach and sometimes even my lower sides (anywere there's intestine).

I was given GaxX and Probiotics and neither are helping. I can eat without discomfort if I'm careful and am not eating anything now that I wasn't eating before this last agressive fill. I would appreciate suggestions since I'm having a difficult time working with this bubbly, noisy stomach.

Thank you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
