My Appologies Post Op People!

It seems I've been using the drooling smilie instead of the happy face...I'm sorry if I weirded you out...Totally unintentional.

Ha! That's funny. I never noticed the drooler--now I want to use it!

 I must've done it atleast 3 times or so...That's how many times I'd noticed the smilie face had moved position...But it was actually the drooly face.

We should do that the new people and freak them out. We can be like:

"You're looking great. Don't stress, you'll start losing weight again "

I consider it the sliming face! "Ugh, I have something stuck and I am sliming up a storm!!!"

Hmm... didn't think of that! Just got banded on Thursday, haven't had the chance to experience those joys yet.

Penguin, may it be a long time until you do experience the joys of slime! Follow the rules, don't try to see how close you can come to breaking them.

That will help!

Congrats on your band!

I am going to do everything I can to avoid all the nasty stuff. It was so strange to take a few scrapes of SF sherbet, 3 m&m size pieces of SF Jello, and have the spoonful of broth be too much at the hospital for my 'first meal'. I learned quickly to stop the moment I feel anything but hungry or thirsty.

Thanks!!

 No worries at all.

I'm glad it went this direction anyways lol...Not much to talk about besides a drooling smilie.

The new topic can be sliming:

I actually haven't vomited or 'slimed' or anything like that yet and I was banded a little over a month ago. When people say they do it it really confuses me and makes me glad I've never had to go through that.

I didn't experience slime until after my second or third fill. I was 4 1/2 months post-op when it happened.

We were at the county fair which is known for its less than healthy food choices. I had no idea what was happening at first then suddenly it dawned on me! DOH!

I must say that in my case, most instances of sliming are operator error.

Oh. Yummy! Something to look forward to!

Ahahaha.

The county fair? Does that mean you were sampling some tasty treats when it happened?

Did people see it and go, "WHAT THE! IT'S THE EXORCIST!" (I've always imagined it was green)

Was it embarassing?

I have no experiences with sliming :smile2: So I've got no clue what it looks like.

We should change the blue saliva of that smilie to green or whatever colour slime is.

This is a tasty conversation that goes well with my morning yogurt :(

Yes, I made a poor choice! :) Ok, I convinced myself that chili fries were a good choice, but NOT! I'd spent over an hour walking around trying to decide what to eat. There truly were no good choices for a bandster.

I found a quiet corner and was alone with my wad of paper towels.

Sliming is not like a projectile vomit. It just builds up and then drains out the mouth because it cannot go down. It is also clear. It is very thick saliva that your body produces to help the food go down when it is stuck. It is a very odd sensations, that is a fact!

Ohh I see.

So it happens when it gets stuck?

I had an Optifast bar get stuck once and it felt like I was having a heart attack, but I didn't slime. I think because I was drinking sips of Water to get it down. That was the scariest feeling I think I've ever experienced. Drinking Water made it hurt more, but it got it down faster.

I would've chosen chili fries too! They sound like they'd be soft and easy to go down.

If you had've chosen something else who knows, it could've been worse.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
