December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)

Recommended Posts

Waiting is killing me. I was told I'd get a cal within a week with a surgery date, yeah it's only been 3 days, but I am so impatient I want to know my day. I need to give notice in to work and I need to tell my mom, since she is going to take the day off too to help me. I wan the phone to ring with the date. AAGH!!

I finally found a Protein Shake can swallow! The Unjury chocolate splendor totally tastes like chocolate milk (when mixed with milk obviously) with no nasty Protein taste. I am going to try the other unjury samples I got before I order a bunch of it. I hope I can mix the unfavored with my wyler's drink without a nasty tast for when I have to do full liquids.< /p>

Hello,

Vicky~ I am happy to hear that your surgery went well!

I went to my first post op appointment this AM and everything is fine. I slept well last PM and walked quite a bit this AM, from the parking lot into the hospital and back. I am still on Clear Liquids until tomorrow when I'll advance to full liquids.

Welcome to the new folks!

Joan

my surgery date is December 21, 2010. I dont have to start my preop plan till the 10th. really excited! i have been racking my brain trying to find other clear liquids i can drink beside broth, Water and crystal light. i found a wassail recipe to help give variety. heated up and it will a delicious alternative that i can enjoy with my family during the holidays. one thing i have been doing lately is gathering as much information as possible. i would rather be overly prepared for what may or may not happen that not be prepared at all. I really enjoy this site. I especially enjoy all the support people give each other! i hope all have a great day! and to the bandsters that are now banded Good Luck and God Bless you on your new journey! ( I will b there soon!)

I am new to participating on this site. I have been reading through all of the supportive comments and wanted say you all have been sooooo much help to me! I am scheduled for Monday Dec 6th. I am really excited and nervous. I never expected to be this nervous....I seem to have boarded an emotional rollercoaster today that I really didn't expect. LOL Good thing my huband is out right now or he would think I have lost my mind..

I did want to share a couple of things that might help. My surgeon highly recommended MY Lap-Band Journey and it has been fantastic. There are videos on the surgery, explanations, expectations, tools to track progress and create a support group of friends and/or family to receive "cheers" as you reach milestones. There is so much good information out there that I just had to share. Its www.lapband.com and the click on The Journey at the top right and sign in.

Congratulations to all!!!!! I can't wait to join the "after" group in just 2 short days. I hope I can get a little sleep between now and then but it's not looking good so far  Sending positive thoughts to all!

Hello,

Renee~ Wow, you're back at work?! What are you allowed to eat at this stage? Just keep sipping to get your fluids in.

Sal~ So glad to hear things went well!

I am now on a full liquid diet until my next appointment which is on Thursday. I have done fine with it. Farina Cereal thinned with milk, apple sauce, Protein Shake, cottage cheese with pureed fruit. Wonderful after the 2 week preop diet and 2 day clear liquids following surgery!

Christa~ What date is your surgery scheduled?

Joan

Right now I'm on full liquids but it's so hard for me to get it all in. I've been sipping but right now I'm not even close to what I should be getting...just taking it one day at a time. Everyday seems to get better...so thankful for the support from u guys.

I am having the same problem with getting in all of my liquids but the instructions that my surgeon's office gave me say that if you force Protein Shakes to keep your energy up you will make yourself feel sick and delay your recovery. But it also says to keep zero calorie fluids next to you at all times and try to sip on them as much as possible so that is what I am trying to do. I'm really trying to start listening to my body as far as the hunger goes...I am finding it hard to tell what is actually hunger and what is gas but hopefully the gas will go away soon so that won't be as much of an issue.

So far, this has not been nearly as difficult as I expected. I haven't needed much pain medication at all and I am trying to walk as much as possible to help with the gas...all in all, I am so glad I did this!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
