Waiting to have 1st appt. and a ?

Ok I decide enough is enough. I scheduled my appointment last month and I can not get in until end of October for my first visit. I was wondering on how long do you have to wait before they schedule surgery after your visit. I just need a letter of approval from my health insurance. Just excited and was wondering what to expect. Thanks

Hey SDTeaGirl: I know my insurance required 6 months of seeing the doctor before they would approve it. Not sure about your insurance but once they approved it I had surgery 8 days later. Good luck!!

My insurance originally required a 6 month supervised diet, but that changed in August, so I only had to do a 3 month diet. I went to the seminar on June 15 and has my 1st appointment with my doctor on June 21. When I went in for the initial appointment I was hoping to have my surgery scheduled ASAP, but having to wait has actually been beneficial.

I have a significant amount of weight to lose (100+ pounds) and during this "waiting period" I've started to eat better and joined a gym to prepare for my life post-surgery. I was just approved today by my insurance company and my surgery date is set for October 15.

Totally depends on your dr and your ins co. My doc scheduled my surgery at my first appt for two months out. my insurance only took a week to approv but they required thirty days notice. so the whole process took two months...im scheduled for 10-12 and my initial appt was 8-18. so totally depends!!! Good luck in your journey make sure you do lots of research and ask lots of questions. This site has been AMAZING for me. Hope will help you as much as it has helped me.
