Hi everyone,

I went to my Doctor yesterday for a fill. I have not been since February. After the first swallow the Doctor came in and saw a black spot on the xray. It is something on the lining of my stomach that the Barium is clinging to. He took all the Fluid out of the band and is doing an EGD on Wednesday. Anybody ever hear of this? He said if it was an ulcer I would have symptoms but I've been feeling fine. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know anything about reading xrays, but I do know about having an ulcer with no symptoms. I had my pre-op EGD and my doc found a medium-sized ulcer. He wanted to know why I didn't tell him about it before. I had no idea. I guess I had an upset stomach every now and then, but nothing out of the ordinary. I was as shocked as he was.

If it does turn out to be an ulcer, it isn't awful. The treatment was pills (nexium) for a month and then a repeat EGD. It was completely healed. I suspect that the ulcer was from a 4 week course of Naproxen that i took for plantar fascitis, but I'll never really know.
