  1. 1. What will you do with your "fat" clothes after banding?

    • Keep them -- just in case....
    • Get rid of them once & for all!

Recommended Posts

I'm still a few weeks out from my banding and, as I was doing laundry today, I started to wonder what I would do with the summer "fat" clothes that I will be putting away for the season. Should I keep them, just in case.....or should I show my commitment and belief that this time I will get the weight off permanantly by getting rid of them.

If you're waiting to be banded, what do you plan to do with the large clothes once they no longer fit.

If you're already banded, what did you do -- keep or toss/donate/sell?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Was banded on 8/26--going good and gas pain pretty much gone:thumbup: just a little incision pain. missing food a bit:cursing: I plan on donating all my clothes as they "outgrow" me.

good luck:redface:

I hauled the clothes I just shrank out of over to a friend who is also losing weight, but still not quite as far a long as I am. When she shrinks out of them, she'll pass them on to the next person, etc. until the clothes are worn out. The deal is the same as with baby clothes: you aren't allowed to give any back!

Cute idea. I, also, gave away what I could to folks who wanted them The rest, I donated to Salvation Army, or the woman's center at my church. (I choose Salvation Army over Goodwill, as I shop Goodwill). Anyway, I find I have to get rid of the old, and don't want the temptation of being able to let myself go, because I have old clothes that will fit if I do!

I got rid of mine. Gave most of them away. Some where just too worn out so I threw them away. I did keep some of my biggest favortie clothes, just so I can see how far I have come.

Right now I'm at a stand still since I pregnant, but hope to get back on the wagon once this little guy is here.

Not only have I given away my fat clothes, I have given away my skinny clothes too. You know, the ones I held onto because one day I might get thin enough to wear them again. Well they are too big now also.

Because I am an organized hoarder, I cant just throw things away so I sorted it into sizes and found someone who could wear each size to give them to. I took some to a consignment shop but I found that I took more pleasure in giving them away to be enjoyed by someone else than I did in selling them.

I gave some of mine to friends, but sold most at garage sales...such a great feeling to not have to wear a size 22 pants and 3x shirts anymore!

I also separated my clothes by sizes pre-surgery. I have been every size in the book. I put all the clothes in the garage that do not fit yet and kept my current size in my closet. Once I get to a smaller size, I will box up the current clothes and give them to a friend that is also losing weight (that is IF she is still behind me). Then I can go get the smaller size into my closet and so on.

There is a Clothes Exchange that a LAP-BAND® Member started just last week.

Clothes Exchange for Bandsters

The clothes are free, just reimburse the person you get them from for the cost shipping.

Okay, girls -- I'm excited to hear all your responses because so far not one person has kept them. That means you are SUCCEEDers or BELIEVERS! I love it! That's the question for me -- do I really believe it will work and I didn't till just the last few days. The support here has been so fabulous that I am starting to believe I will succeed with the help of my band, my family and my God. (Not necessarily in that order!)

What about the rest of you? Anyone keep their clothes -- why did you decide to do that?

Most I'm giving away. I'm keeping a few (jeans/shirt) to compare once I get to goal. The others are history!

There is no "just in case." The clothes are history. I was contemplating keeping my largest pair of jeans as a reminder of how far I've come, but I really think I'll just take a picture of me in them when I hit goal----and donate them to charity.

Im going to donate everything except one pair of jeans or a suit. I want to make the biggest, baddest, fatest scarecrow in the neighboorhood. next Halloween

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
