Getting ready for my op date on October 22nd! Nervous in some ways but mostly excited :-) Start my pre-op diet next Friday so this week is definitely the week of "last suppers" or last breakfasts - having my fave pancakes tomorrow since it will be a while before those are back in my diet!

Congrats and good luck to everyone!

Congratulations!!! :smile2: The 12th will be here before you know it! When do you start your pre-op diet?

My nutritionist recommended 3 weeks for post menopausal women so I am on day12 tomorrow. I can't believe I have stuck to it. I was down 10 lbs on day 7, waiting until day 14 to weigh again. Mine was a tough one just 2 shakes 1 bar and 2 cups vegetables per day and diet drinks Water and coffee. Looking forward to some variety even if it's just mushy. I forget, when is your surgery?

My surgery date is 10/18. I only have to do a week of Slim Fast before surgery. I will go 10/8 to talk to the anthesioligist (?sp). I'm nervous, excited, unsure, etc....... My emotions vary depending on the day. I'm just ready for it to be behind me. It seems like an eternity since I started. I put everything aside for about a month. My first great grandchild was born 9/10 and I got my appointment for my surgery date. So, here I go!:smile2:

Stupid Vitamin question --

I can't take my Centrum Women's Multivitamin for a while after the surgery - they are just too huge (as it is they get stuck in my throat occasionally now), even if I break in half, they're still big but doable... but to be on the EXTREME safe side I'm switching to all chewable Vitamins for the first 30 days or so (except Iron, it's tiny - i have Gummy Bcomplex, Calcium and got Flinstones Complete)

So, here's the question - most people and one page in my Pre-Op info booklet says TWO Flinstones Vitamins but the bottle says for adults (and kids over 4) to take one whole vitamin... i know it won't hurt to do 2, but don't want to overdo it if I dont have to... anyone know?????

My dr said to take two. That's what I've been doing for a month or so already

Thanks! I thought so, but when reading the bottle... things got all confused :smile2:

My doctor said not to use gummys, they may get stuck so be careful

I bought the Flinstones chewables, and honestly I don't like them. Would prefer to just swallow a pill. But i dont' want to mess with anything so I will stick to what the doctor said. Today is day 2 post op and I'm feeling better but not 100% yet. I need to go do some walking, I'm hoping that will help. It is cold in Chicago today only 44 degrees, I'm not looking forward to that walk!

Best of luck to those of you getting ready for the band, hang in there on the pre-op, it is so worth it.

My doctors office said if I took the Flinstones Vitamins to take 2 a day. I've been taking Centrum chewable, it's taken once a day with food. I'm not a big fan of chewable vitamins, so if anyone has found a good alternative I'd love to know about it.

For pills that I can't buy in chewable or liquids, I bought a pill crusher. Also, in my instructions it says I can take a pill if it is as small as a pencil eraser. I guess that means quartering a pill with a splitter. I bought a bottle of Tylenol liquid for adults last week.

Surgery Wed and I am really anxious. Clear Liquids only all day tomorrow.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
