Struggled with weight my whole life... in the last couple of years, it's just gotten out of control and finally decided to do something to help me not have weight be such an issue the rest of my life.  I've been a bit in denial about my weight too for a long time... now that I'm in my 40s, I'm a high risk of having diabetes like my dad did.  He died 6 years ago and was the poster child for all the bad things diabetes can do - kidney failure, leg amputated, blindness.  I don't want to go through what he did, so time to do something about it.  Excited about the Lap Band because I think it will give me a way to maintain a healthy weight for a long time vs. the up and down. More excited about having a way to maintain than the initial weight loss!  Will be banded on October 22, 2010.
