HELP: Got banded yesterday and im swollen... need advice

Hi guys, today is my first day post-op. I am sore on the left side and I cannot seem to keep anything down. i tried eating my meds, split into 4, but just 1/4 of a pill gives me pain and it seems stuck. Then when I sip water/gatorade my stomach has a churning sensation then I vomit brown liquid.. need advice what to do. I haven't farted yet also, can you help me? i tried walking and standing up to no avail....

Are these meds. something you have to have right now? If not don't force them, if yes check with pharmacist if you can crush them to swallow easier. Do you have liquid pain med. from your Dr.? If yes take it, if not call & get some. They should have also given you nausea strips to put behind your ear. If not get some of those also. Have you tried Gas-X strips for your gas (besides walking)? If not get the ones that dissolve on your tongue so your stomach can rest. Maybe try a couple of sips of warm chicken broth. Sometimes it's a vicious circle of needing something on your stomach, but not too much to make you throw up. This is what I did for the first 24 hrs. & it worked out ok. Hope this helps it does get better

You had major surgery yesterday so I would think it's only normal that minimally you are sore and swollen .

As for taking meds unless its a pain pill maybe you should lay off anything else right now unless its crucial.

I was just banded this past Monday. I thought they would send me home with a liquid pain killer but they didn't . I got a prescrip for Percocet Tabs. I really didn't need them thankfully because I was not in much pain at all but when I did take a couple I broke it into 3 pcs and swallowed 1 pc at a time with a sip of Water and allowed it to go down before I took the next piece. I've been taking liquid Tylenol to head off any pain at night.

Sips, sips, no gulps.

As for the gas I have taken a whole pack of chewable Gas-X since I'm home to get it out of my system. It has helped immensely.

You are supposed to be on a strictly clear liquid diet ckn broth, water , Crystal lite, etc....sip, sip, sip.

Watch that throwing up right now you don't want to slip your band already.

Call your Dr if you don't know what to do or are concerned.
