First of all, Good wishes to those having their surgery today!! Also, just wondering for those who have had it...I am 1 week out today and even tho I am doing my walking and taking gas-x I still get these sharp pains in my left side and shoulder. Its not constant but it really hurts. Also, every now and then a pressure in the middle of my chest. My doc says its all normal, just wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing any of this? Other than that I feel great, just want the nagging pains to go away!!

Hey everyone

I was banded yesterday and recovery is going pretty well. Just taking everything slow for now and am spending a few days at my parents house. I'm gonna head back to work Monday and see how that goes. The most annoying part of course is the shoulder pain, but I can get rid of that when needed.

I look forward to where we're all at towards the end of the month.

I'm only one day out from being banded, but I've found that making myself burp over and over and over helps a lot with the pressure in the chest feeling. Being a week out, I'm sure you've tried that though...

Not sure if you're asking me or not, but I'll go ahead and answer. I'm still having gas pains but they aren't anything major. The worst was waking up from surgery and have the shoulder pains. If you've ever thrown out your shoulder, or pulled a muscle there, it feels like the same thing. It's annoying more than anything. But when it does happen for you, walking around and forcing yourself to burp helps a lot. I've also found that lying on my left side tucked into the back of the couch takes the pain almost completely away. Remember to try that. It's my second day out, and everything feels much better than yesterday.

Thanks for the advice! I will try that! It seems to me that the people who are having the least amount of pain are the ones who are trying to stay active, I imagine it helps with the gas pain.

I had a hard time figuring out how to join the social group so if anyone else has that problem click on Karenwinpa's name on the left side then go to her page and the icon is there. Then you can click on join. Thanks for setting that up Karenwinpa!

Hi Octoberrets ~~~~

Finally have my date 10/18/10... I'm getting so excited - lots of prep work to do.... For those you that have been banded recently - do you have any words of wisdome - or thing that you wish you would have gotten before hand?

I hope you all are doing really well. Look forward to hearing from you all.

Leah,

The best advice I can give you is get up and walk right away, hopefully the pain will be less and you will feel so much better.

When your shoulder is hurting, or your chest or stomach is feeling tight - just get up and start moving around and keep forcing yourself to burp. It helps a lot. Just keep burping over and over and over.

Well I have transitioned to the other side!!! I am now a Bandster!!! My day at the hospital yesterday was uneventful. I arrived at 7 as instructed, but never went to surgery until about 12. Waiting is not one of my favorite things LOL! So it was making me more nervous than anything. I came home about 4.

Today I am just very sore around my belly button area and hurts just a bit to take deep breaths, but all in all, not too bad. I am so ready for a shower LOL! I will be a good girl and wait until tomorrow as instructed, but boy could I use one right now.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me up to this point and I will certainly be calling on you more, now that I will have bandster questions!

Hugs,

Jane

Congrats to everyone who's been banded so far this month! I finally got my letter of approval from my insurance company but I won't even have my pre-op until November and the date on the letter said 12/6. So I'll either be a November or, more likely, a December bandster. Hope everyone who has been banded so far this month is doing well! :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
