Looking for September 2010 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I was banded on August 31st. The incisions never hurt but the shoulder has been real sore! I did all to do for the gas, got it out, now I am thinking it is just that nerve. But, each day it does get better, but oh wow, it hurt. No sick at my stomach at all which is good. I am now on a Protein Shake for Breakfast, Soup and yogurt for lunch and the same for dinner. It is going fine. Pre-op appointment is this Friday. Take care everyone and congrats!

Tommorow is the day I cross over to the banded side of this journey. I am getting somewhat antsy but I know this is the right decision for me. I'm sending my prayers and best wishes to all you who have the same band birthday as me and a special thanks to all those who have gone before me and who have helped me by their experiences in this group.

I will say a prayer for you too! I was banded a week ago tomorrow and doing well. I have had the horrible shoulder pain, but each day it gets better. Do exactly as they tell you and you should be fine. Rest, walk to move the gas, take your gas aids, pain meds and all liquids! Thinking of you! Jennifer

Best of luck to everyone having their surgery tomorrow!

My day is Friday and I can't believe it's almost here! So excited, but a little nervous. It helps to read about everyone's experiences here.

Okay 7th ers! Tomorrow is our big day! :( Good luck for all of us!

Is it odd that I am not nervous at all? I have no concerns, no anxiety, no fear.... Maybe that will all kick in when I am trying to sleep LoL... (Thoughts and feelings usually like to come to me in the middle of the night and keep me up from 2 am to 5 am... go figure. ) My mother keeps checking in on me... Shes VERY nervous and anxious for me. Its pretty comical. And I guess because I minimize everything, my boyfriend seems to be unphased. I really just want it to be done already!

Well, I will be back on here to check in as soon as I can! :w00t:

Everyone else, stay wonderful!

(though I don't always comment of everything/everyone, I do read everything written here!)

I will be praying for you and I know you will do fine. I look forward to hearing from you 'after' the surgery. I am sixty-four years 'young' so I am really interested in those bandsters that are over fifty (and sixty). Try not to worry...just dream of the day you are slim. God be with you and the surgeon.:(

Boy this thread is growing, this is my second post for the day. Before my earlier post the last time I post we was on page 37 now we're on page 42.

Last week, I find out that tomorrow I have my last visit with the surgeon before my surgery, also I will have the pre admissions testing done. Thursday September 9, I have my last appointment with the Nutrition Consult before surgery. What's making me a little afraid, My paper work has not been submitted.:scared2::(:scared2::w00t::scared2::scared2:

OMG, no wonder why I'm starving!!! Yes, this is all I get. I can also have sugar free Jello, but, it fills me for 10 minutes after I eat the whole bowl. I'm gonna call the dr. on Tuesday and ask if I can have something else, and that's only if I can survive until then. Wow, what the heck is my dr. thinking????

Jakealta: LOL:lol::lol::lol:Wow, what the heck is my dr. thinking????

Best wishes to the following Bandsters, Hope you all have fast recovery, I will have you all in my prayers.

Danide, Nani4five, Sannersplace72, Swissnis, Playermimi, Msmith73.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Kierstyun2010: Happy to hear you are doing good.

Playermimi: I'm not to far behind you with age. I'm working on becoming "Young at Heart again".

Gracerev: Happy to see you're back home and doing good. Thanks for the update.

Just wanted to say good luck tomorrow to danide, Nani4five, sannersplace72, swissnis, playermimi, msmith73. Hope all goes well and we hear from you soon.

sourmissg -- Hi Gale, maybe your doctors office did not want to submit paperwork over the extended weekend. I bet it gets submitted this week.

danide - I was not nervous one bit and feel asleep as usual the night before surgery. You know we are doing the right thing when we are this calm about it. Good luck tomorrow.

sugarmoma -- Congratulations on your band date.

jshort -- glad to hear all is going well for you. My diet is the same as your right now. I'm satisfied and I'm still losing. Are you going to be getting a fill on your appointment his week? I have my appointment Wednesday in front of the fluoroscope.

gracerev -- I know babys oil will remove tar and lighter Fluid will remove the sticky from old tape. Let us know when you find something that works?

phershey -- sorry to hear that you are having to fight with your insurance company to get approved. Do you have the 2 co-morbidities? If so, then have your doctor's office resubmit with the correct weight. After all if you don't get approved, they don't get paid. Maybe see if you can talk to the doctor instead of his helpers. Good luck and keep us updated.

glitteryvampiregirl -- Congratulations on your surgery date.

-------------------------------------------------------------

:(:w00t::sad::scared2: tomorrow I must return to work :sad::thumbup::sad:

I sure have enjoyed my time off.

Cathy

Hi Everyone - I just did some serious reading on this thread! You all are so supportive of one another. I met with my surgeon last week (a week after being approved) and got my surgery date last Thursday - September 10th.

SO many feelings - but I am sure you can all relate.

Looking forward to being on this journey with all of you!

Thanks to the already banded as well as your words about the procedure have brought me comfort.

This process has been amazing for me! I attended a seminar on the 9th of Aug 2010. Met with the Doctor 2 weeks ago on a Monday. The following Monday I found out that my surgery was approved! My date is set for the 17th, only 8 days away now. I am getting more and more excited every day!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
