Just wondered if I had any band-buddies for that day.

Also, what should I take to the hospital with me?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I am going in on Dec. 11th. I have been having a little trouble with the Pre-op diet. I can't figure out what to eat. I have eaten so much cheese that I am now stopped up! UUUUUG! Any suggestions?

Hi Skyhunt - when I had my surgery I took pajamas and a robe - didn't want my fanny hanging out of the hospital gowns for the world to see - slippers, a book, and toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.) I also made sure to leave my wedding rings and all other jewelry at home.

HarleyKat- what type of pre-op diet are you on? I had a full lliquid diet prior to surgery and I am sure that cheese wasn't on it.

My Dr. put me on a diet for two weeks pior to surgery and I can only have 30 carbs a day. One prune has 26 grams in it! :phanvan I have to say it works though for I have already lost 14 pounds! But I also feel like sh_t, no pun intended. lol

Well I did it! Got banded at 11:00 a.m. 12-11-03! And all is going exceptionally well! The day after surgery I went home and even had some yogart! The following day I had some malt-o-meal, mashed potatoes, and pudding! Yesterday I had applesauce, mashed potatoes and you are not going to believe this, but I even had a slice of wheat bread with mayo and a slice of American cheese on it! All has stayed down great and passed on through without any problems! I am back at work today, just 3 days post op! And I weighed on our scales here and was very happy to see that I have lost over 25 lbs already- from 325 to now 299! WOW!! Hope everyone is doing well. Merry Christmas and it is going to be the Hapiest of New Years!

Hi Harleykat -

Congrats on your banding!

Is all the stuff you're eating on your doc's post-op instructions, though? You want to make sure you give the band as much time to heal as possible before making your stomach digest food. Has nothing to do with what goes down.

Good luck!

Donali,

Yes, I called my doctor and he said as long as I was eating slow, and only three meals a day with my liquids in between and becoming familiar with the quantity of food eaten to promote satisfaction without experiencing nausea, vomiting, or pain which I have had none of!! He even said I could start on stage three soft foods- to just chew chew chew!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
