Is pizza gone forever?

Recommended Posts

I eat pizza maybe once every two weeks... I like it way 2much to give it up - I keep it thin crust or even the Boboli they have in supermarkets works well for me...

I guess each person is different. Not sure where u r from but most Pizza restaurants offer thin crust, try that if ur nervous about the dough...

Good Luck!!!

I ordered a small pizza because this thread made me hungry.

It lasted 4 full meals. (3 dinners and a breakfast)

The first time I had pizza after I was banded was a pretty bad episode, I have had thin crust twice since then and that worked pretty well. But I do try to stay away from foods like that I have only tried pizza three times in a year.

My LapBand rule? NOTHING is gone forever - you just re-learn how to eat, pay attention to what your body is telling you, respect the limitations of the band and live your life. Sure, I can't eat a full serving of some things...so? If I want some pizza, I'm having it.

Two years after surgery there are some days where I can eat most anything including pizza and ribs but most days these are a no-no. Breakfast time is usually a good indicator of how my day will go eating-wise.

Is it the crust that you have to avoid eating or the whole pizza? What if I eat the pizza but avoid the crust, will that help?

First pizza since being banded will be today!! I have had one fill 3 cc's in a 10cc band..so we will see how it goes. We have a brick oven in the back yard we cook EVERYTHING in it but the pizza that comes out of the wood fired brick oven is AMAZING. It's my daughters 19th birthday and she wanted pizza and a Cold Stone Creamery Ice Cream birthday cake...so I may indulge today and back on track tomorrow!

That's the thing- you won't know until you get into it. Some people can eat all of the pizza (toppings, dough and crust) with no problems. Other people, such as myself, can only eat the toppings.

I ordered an extra large pizza on Friday afternoon. Had a slice when it arrived. Another slice Friday night. 2 slices on Saturday and just finished another slice.

Half of the pizza is gone and I may have to throw the other half out.

A year ago I would have finished that same pizza in one sitting and had a sandwich too.

If i treat myself to pizza I only eat the toppings off of 1.. maybe 2 pieces with a knife and fork and dip it into lots of Ranch Dressing. I want indulge myself, but I don't want it to hurt. This totally satisfies the craving!

It's either toppings only or I get a whole wheat crust. It seems to work better with the band for me. I slice of everything or two if I only eat toppings.

I also found these 280 calorie single serving pizzas with whole wheat crust that are great if you want to be sensible when you crave the pizza.< /p>

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
