New and about to set my surgery date

Hello everyone! I am Jessica, 22, and from Florida. I just started this journey although have been wanting to for a year or so. I am currently setting up all my plans for getting the band in Mexico with Dr.Aceves. Very nervous and excited at the same time. The process is going so fast! We are in the process of getting financing and I am trying to set a date for early July depending on a few variables. Would LOVE to have a band buddy if anyone else is in a similar position  Also, I am not sure how to check messages on here but I am working on it hehe.

I'm so glad to see you do this at an early age. I'm 54 and was banded march 16 (self pay). It's the best thing I've ever done. Life is so much more enjoyable. And you have a lot of life to live. Good luck and keep in touch.

Thank you so much! I am honestly somewhat embarrassed that I am so young and already need this but I am just trying to not think about that because I know I need this and as much as I would like to think I can change by myself, I DO need help. Hoping for a July 1st or July 13th date :-) so excited

Don't be ashamed of having lap band at your age. I was in the same situation at your age. I only wish I had this tool back then. Life would have been so much more pleasurable. I would have done so many things differently. I'm proud of you for doing this now. You will learn how to eat right and comfortably with the band. It's not as stringent as some say. Take it one day at a time and lose that weight now. . . . And enjoy life!

thank you girl55 You brought a smile to my face!

Hi, I am new too. Nervous, a little scared and also feeling a bit ashamed like you - I am only 27. I had my surgical consult today and have set my date for July 12th (still waiting on financing)

That sounds like a good idea. extra moral support is always good.

i havent seen my doctor yet but have an appointment made to get the ball rolling. im worried he will tell me i cant have the surgery. i want this more than anything, ive always been overweight and after twins and another baby, the weight just wont come off. after doing research and reading other peoples stories i have made up my mind to do this. i cant afford it on my own so im putting it my insurances hands. keep your fingers crossed for me! i go in on the 14th and after that ill know, ill let you all know what happens.

Why would you think he wont let you have it? I too am a mommy of twins :-) How old are yours? Its crazy, I barely gained any weight with the pregnancy, but after I delivered, I was so use to "eating for three", that it was hard to stop. Ive gained a little over 40 lbs since i delivered them.

Wishing you the best of luck with this journey! My fingers are definently crossed for you!

my twins are 4 and i have a 14 month old. i gained like 75 with my twins and havent be able to get the weight off. ive always been overweight so the extra doesnt help. i see a military doctor and they can be jerks sometimes, they are always in a hurry. thanks for the best wishes!!
