protein shakes, etc. for breastfeeding mama

Hi all,

I'm having a revisional lap band surgery on Friday, May 21st, b/c my original band (1/2005) has slipped. I'm a breastfeeding mother of a six month-old son, and I plan on continuing to breastfeed if possible. I'm going to be on 3 weeks of fulls and 3 weeks of purees. Does anyone have any suggestions for the post-op diet? Specifically, any recommendations for Protein shakes and the like? I want to do sugar-free, high protein. And is there anyplace online that we can get these things for reasonable prices (powders, prepared shakes, etc. are so expensive in the stores!).

Any recommendations and/or support would be wonderful! Thanks....

I am also nursing my 5 month old and was banded Monday (5/10). I am using Herbalife which is a soy protein and it has actually increased my supply! I know there is controversy over whey and soy protein but my dietician said I could use it. I enjoy the taste too! My 8 year old son even likes it!

Oh, have you tried contacting your local La Leche League? They may be able to help too! If not, let me know, I work for a doc that specializes in breastfeeding. Btw, that's awesome that you want to continue to nurse your baby!
