anybody else have a Dr. that recommends no mushy stage post-op?

My surgeon recommends six weeks full liquids post-op followed immediately by regular food. No mushy stage at all. Anybody else have a similar diet recommendation?

My doctor doesn't recommend a mushy or pureed stage either. But, hers is a lot different than yours because I just had four days of clear liquids after surgery, then went straight to real food. Very different from what most on here seem to do, but I didn't have any problems w/it. The only food that gave me a problem the first month was bread and I was fine w/giving it up.

6 weeks of full liquid - ouch! That sounds really hard. The good side though is that it should really kick start your weight loss.

Good luck

My doc is all about quickening the weight loss. He also doesn't include Protein in the clear liquid pre-op diet, which I'm told is also an effort to speed weight loss.

The six weeks post-op full liquids is purportedly to allow the stomach to heal completely after banding. My guess though is that it's for rapid weight loss.

Wow! I can't even imagine going to regular food yet and I'm three days post-surgery now. That had to be tough.

My doctor does a couple of days of clear liquid, postop, followed by 10 days of purees. Then straight to "real" food---but a very strict regimen.
