How much weight did you gain?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am just curious to ask two questions:

1. Did you get an unfill before/during your pregnancy and

2. How much weight did you gain?

I am currently trying (in the two week wait) and just curious. I was banded in Nov. 08 and have lost 51 lbs. My BMI is now 28.

I am just trying to see what to expect. I am currently not planning to get an unfill (keeping my finger crossed there are no problems).

Thanks a lot, Ladies!!

I am currently 15 weeks pregnant and I have not gained any weight, I have lost about 20 lbs since I got pregnant..However, it is because my morning sickness is so bad..I plan on keeping my fill the entire pregnancy, if it becomes harmful to the baby then I will get unfilled...I think you kinda have to take the good and the bad...getting pregnant you obviously gain weight, I think a person can control weight gain by eating healthy and getting enough exercise..but I rather gain 100 lbs and have a healthy baby then not gain a pound and not be able to get pregnant...hope you get your positive soon  I have been down the road of fertility problems and that 2 week wait is a pain in the butt..

hi ive had a band for 9 yrs. In my fourth year i fell pregnant had bad morning sickness at 3 moths it stopped i had gained 5kg. started to have bad reflux couldnt eat.Mt doc suggested to empty the fill so i did. my life was heaps better. My reflux gone i had a healthy diet(most of the time) had put on 19kg iwasnt to worried cause i just lost 80kg so i knew that if i could do that whats 19kg lol. After when ned was 3 months my milk dried up & i started to get filled again it took me 20 months to get back pre baby weight but o havent looked back.Ned is now 4 i have put on 1kg since then it was the best journey & u can be banded & pregnant have a healthy baby & go back to the way u were no regrets!!!!

Congrats Cindy! I am in my 27th week and so far i've gained just under 10 lbs. I've had 2 slight unfills so far. The first was at 8 weeks (-0.3 cc) and the second was yesterday (-0.5 cc). I've been happy with my weight gain and my OB has no problem with it either. I know i will start to gain more in the home stretch so i didn't mind putting too much on in the beginning. I was also lucky and didn't have any morning sickness to worry about.

Enjoy your pregnancy!

Congratulations!

I'm at 32 weeks this week. I'm almost 2 years post surgery and was down about 90 pounds when I got pregnant ( A year and 5 months post-banding.) I am still about 60 pounds overweight (pre-preg weight.)

I got a complete unfill at 8 weeks because I was in the hospital with a gall bladder attack and vomitting constantly. I was a bit worried about a repeat attack, so left my band empty. Since I've been doing fairly well with weight gain, I haven't bothered to get a refill and will wait until 4-6 weeks post-baby to worry about fills.

I'm currently up about 17 pounds at 32 weeks. I'm happy with my gain overall. I had hoped to keep it under 20 pounds, but I think 25-ish is possible with the way the last few weeks are going. I didn't gain anything until 17 weeks, then 5 pounds appeared. LOL Slow gain from 17 weeks to 30 weeks to get me at my last official 13 pound gain and the last two weeks I've gained 4-5 pounds.

BUT . . . I've been able to eat well and I have absolutely enjoyed some non-bandster friendly foods, but I tend to focus on the HEALTHY non-band friendly stuff. Lots of raw veggies that otherwise get stuck (I've had trouble with raw carrot and broccoli.) Some added whole grains and some sandwiches here and there. Yes, some crap too, but not too much.

I have gained like 10 pounds and I'm 34 weeks. I gained over 10 pounds in my last month with my son so I figure it should change for this one too. I have only had 1 cc taken out in my third month b/c of all the morning sickness otherwise just the normal eating issues.

I just found out that we are welcoming our second baby in Feb 2011. I was banded on Dec 3, 2009. I have very mixed feelings. I have lost 60 pounds, met my first goal.. had set a second goal of 80 pounds by Sept.

I am SO VERY fearful about gaining weight since I am still in my post op period. I don't want to gain much weight.. I am soo nervous. I am not sure what to expect.. weight loss, maintain, or gain.

With my first baby I was not banded, and I gained 30 pounds.

Just wanted to give an update. I didn't do an unfill at all. I'm now 16 wks. I gained 5 lbs in the first 9 weeks but then lost 2 over the last month. So I'm up a total of 3. I am thrilled and my doc was perfectly happy with that. She said she would rather see me gain too little than too much  I like the way she thinks. We went over my eating and she feels like I am eating enough and that the baby is getting what SHE needs (it's a girl!!)

We decided that approx. 15 lbs would be a good number with most of it gained in the 3rd trimester.

Oh, and almost no morning sickness but quite a bit of reflux, which has gotten better now. My band is tighter than usual but I'm still managing.

Hope everyone else is doing good and I'm sure a few of you have delivered by now!!!! Would love an update!

Thats great news Cindy, I am 25 weeks now and still haven't gained a pound...I am down a few more pounds from when I posted at 15 weeks but I eat what I can when I want and make sure I get the right amounts in with the right Vitamins..I just don't understand why women feel the need to get unfilled..I never once thought about it..not because I was afraid to gain weight but because I didn't see a reason to..esp since the doctor said everything is perfect..

I have had some reflux and have tried a few different meds but Zantac seems to work the best for me, just remember if your taking tums they make you constipated..so don't take too many..

Such great news your having a girl  That is what I am having too..congrats again!!

Hi braydens_mommy= I am due Feb 2011 also, but have an unfill already due to band slippage in March. My band still feels tight and I still have restriction. I think everyone is different. My hormones always make my band tighter around AF time, and since they are going crazy right now, I am tight as a fiddle! Good luck cycle buddy!

Hi there,

congrats on your pregnancy!! I did not have an unfill [ i did find it harder to eat right at the very end of the pregnancy}. Found out i was pregnant right after being banded. I gained 34 pounds back and right up to the original weight i was before i started the process ) Since the baby was born 4 months ago as of July 7th i have lost 56 lbs.! Most of it due to breast feeding i think... i also have had 3 adjustments since then .... i think i am up to 5 something in my band.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
