I swear this band is a pain in the a$$! Just when you think you got it figured out, it changes. I got a fill on March 22nd, did my 2 days liquid, 1 day mushie, start eating regular food and everything is fine, as a matter of fact I start thinking this fill really isn't helping but then for the last 3 days, everything I eat (except yogurt) makes me spit, not really stuck or slime just a lot of saliva. Last night my wise ass husband brings me a plate of dinner and a cup with a paper towel to spit in! (By the way, he might be a wise ass but he is sweet enough to cook dinner and bring me a plate while I relax.) So what about it has anyone else had this spit thing happening?

Betsy,

I read your post earlier today but could not log in and reply at work.

I am sending well wishes your way for both you and Mark. I know this will be a time full of stress, but I think you will keep a level head and deal with it. .... hugs

I don't expect you to respond to my posts because I know you have a "full plate" right now. Just make sure you check in from time to time so we all know how you are. On those days you have time and energy to post more, I will continue to enjoy your posts.

Hi Everyone!

Betsy, my prayers are with Mark and you and your family! Hope everything goes OK with the changing doses of medicine.

Illuminationlady, welcome home! Glad you had a great trip!

Leigha, your story of the empty cup just cracked me up, that is something my hubby would do, too. :frown:

Gosh, so many of you noticed my new pic! That was me in New Orleans with my ice cream strawberry daquiri...yum. The bloody mary belonged to DH, NOT me! hee hee!

I blame the lap band for the wrinkles around my eyes. As I deflated, the wrinkles became more prominent. Wonder if my insurance company would consider a face lift a reconstructive procedure? :smile2:

Crazy day today, many of you know I got new office cubicle furniture a month or so ago. Well some of the panels were damaged during shipping.

As I was preparing to facilitate a meeting, my cubicle mate announced that the company was coming in about an hour to replace the panel. THANKS A LOT! I had to clear my desk for them to come in and do the work. Sheesh. So, I went to the meeting not as prepared as I'd have liked.

Meanwhile my boss was in a different meeting, it did not go well for him, from what I hear, so he is still counting down the days (52 now). I used to facilitate those meetings (all the managers in the district I work for). A couple of years ago, the district manager decided they did not need facilitation and I stopped. Well, the other managers requested I be brought back in. I took it as a compliment to my facilitation skills.

Ok, I am off to post some before and after photos!!!

Thanks Hummingbird!

Going through all the pics on disc to put them back on hubby's computer got me going.

The changes in my face really amaze me the most. That, and the fact that I blend into the crowd now! :frown:

Happy Thursday everyone!

I think I have made up my mind to ask for a tiny fill when I go to my Dr. in Denver on Friday. I have been so tight for months the thought of a fill didn't even enter my mind. This week I have been getting hungry between meals, so maybe it's time. My weightloss has slowed to a snail's pace too and I really don't want it to take a year to get rid of this last 34 lbs.

Good Morning everyone! I've been super busy. Becky, my 23 year old daughter was banded on Tues. without incident. She is home, here, recovering and I am the nurse...lol. She's doing great and we walked the neighborhood yesterday. But still haven't had time to catch up. I did read enough to know that Besty needs our prayers. I have been praying for her and Mark the whole time I was gone. Well wishes and hugs your way, Besty. Leigha, sometimes I, too, get a lot of saliva. For me, it's a sign I'm full. But it doesn't happen all the time. Maybe you're too tight. A slight unfill might do the trick. Sometimes a few drops can make the difference. I didn't lose any weight while I was gone but that's okay because I thought I would have gained. Ate too much good food and slider things. Back to business now. Have a really great day today. Back to nursing the sickly one here for me. Love to all, Dottie

Betsy, thinking of you and Mark.

IL, congrats to your daughter! She must love having your help and guidance!

I just found this picture of myself from one week before surgery. I used to groan at seeing pictures of myself, but now, I get so excited to find a fat picture because IT'S IN THE PAST! :-) Isn't it funny how your perspective changes? I love my fat pictures now!

Good afternoon everybody, Spring is here! How do I know? Because the pine trees are pollinating everything, I left my car parked for 3 days and here is what it looked like when I went to get in it last night.

But on a happier note here is my neighbors tulips, he has a huge display that he plants every year. Its just beautiful.

I think we are going to have my MIL and the kids at the house for Easter, it is forecast to be 81 and sunny so we are going to use the smoker to make some kind of BBQ we just have to decide what kind. The good news is it is going to rain tomorrow so that will wash most of the pollen away first.

My friend brought me some fresh eggs that his chickens laid. I am very excited about having fresh eggs instead of store bought.

Anyone have Easter plans?

T.G.I.F.!

Friday is here and I will drive to Denver to see the lapband doc after I take my grandson to school.

I wanted to take off a couple more pounds before today so that my weight at the Dr.'s office would be at least an even 80 lbs with clothes on. I stepped on the scale this morning and was up 1/2 a pound! Ugh, how the heck did that happen?! Oh well, such is life. The last time I was there I had lost 29 lbs, so all is good.

Leigha, my pines won't be pollinating for quite some time now, but when they do it is a big mess. My spring flowers aren't even thinking about sticking their little heads up yet. I will have spring flowers in the summer, but the blooms last a nice long time. love the tulip pics.

Betsy---I am saying prayers for you, Mark and the family. I will be thinking of you. Please post an update whenever you can. ((HUGS))

Dottie--Congrats on your daughter's successful banding. Wishing her a speedy recovery and wonderful road ahead with us bandsters! Glad you're back!

Leigha--love your Spring pics!!! So never had the spit thing! Weird! Your hubby sounds just like mine--a complete smart a$$ LOL Are you still having this issue?

HB-- Good luck with your appointment and getting another fill! I am exactly in the same boat. Have good restriction, but my meals are not lasting very long before I'm starving again, so I'm getting a fill on 4/22. Let us know how it goes!

Cocoa-- LOVE the new pic! Looking good, girl!!!

So, hit my Easter goal of 170 lbs! Woohooo! Pulled it out at the last second. So waiting for TOM to get here and I have never missed him so badly.....about 2 days late (blush). Please say prayers that the Easter bunny brings a tardy visitor because I am sooo not prepared for the alternative (didn't want to say anything yesterday due to April fool's). So that's my nail biter for the day. All of a sudden being hungry in between meals doesn't seem like my biggest issue LOL.... Fingers crossed, guys!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
