I am trying to make a list of foods that are not well-tolerated so I know to just stay away from them. I know Emmi says asparagus. The dietician teaching our pre-op class said she can not have anything with breading on it. Any others?

Foods to avoid is a tricky subject....everyone is different....I can eat most veggies raw, sometimes better than cooked, go figure.....I can't do rice and sometime have trouble with spagetti the Pasta, and meatballs, but can do other ground meat just fine. What I have found out is that what I don't tolorate is usually because I don't chew it well enough....you will figure that out when you pb/vomit up whole rice and/or noodles.....lol....good luckl............

I have no problem with asparagus if it is well cooked.

Everyone's list will be very different. My list is very long when I compare to other bandsters.

I can not eat and avoid:

Steak, roast (pork & beef), almost all meats really, eggs, bread of any kind, french fries, most chicken, Pasta, rice, potato chips, corn chips, all types of pizza..........

I am sure there are many more, but those are what come to mind

Humming bird what do you eat. After looking at your list there doesn't seem to be a lot left!

Like others have said, it really just depends. I can eat most things. Sometimes I have problems with eggs and bread, but not always. It's kind of a crap shoot with me :(

Things I can/do eat : yogurt, cottage cheese, salad (not iceberg) , Soup, chili, oatmeal, cream of wheat, Protein shakes, Protein Bars (if they aren't too dense), vegies, Starbucks skinny lattes, ........

I'm sure there is more, but these are what come to mind.

OMG - cooked cabbage - what a pain that was; I thought I would never get it back up.

Like someone else said, the foods I can't tolerate are because I am not chewing well enough.

Today I had the exact same Breakfast as yesterday but today, it got stuck. I have been back and forth the the bathroom 3 times. It has been over an hour and I still don't feel great.

The tinyest amount of chocolate creates heartburn unlike any I have ever had in my life.

so far I've been able to tolerate any kind of food. I had a cast Iron stomach prior to banding so I'm hoping that will last. I've only had 1 fill so as I get more restriction it might change. :(

pastas and breads are the foods most likely to cause me issues. Initially I could eat any type of food. Now that I am at 6cc in a 10cc band, I have to be a lot more careful with my food choices and make sure that I chew, chew, chew whatever it is that I am eating.

For me, bread is hard. My surgeon told me to avoid broccoli because its hard to break down. He also said to avoid cucumbers but I haven't really noticed any problem with that!

I think if we all combined our "can not tolerate" lists all that would be left is ice cream (and then the lactose intolerant would have issues).

LOL...I was thinking the same thing.

Personally, I have a problem with ground meats, eggs and bread...or really any kind of 'doughy' food. So potpies are out, as is regular crust pizza (but I can do thin crust), burritos, etc. I can eat just about anything else and I have restriction.

LOL-----but ice cream goes down SO easy! I have noticed since my last fill, though, that a much smaller amount of icecream (sugar free of course :() makes me feel full.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
