I am 61 and live in Austin, Texas.  I am like 95% of all the other people on this forum - I have always had a weight problem (or though I did) but after my child was born, the pounds started to really pack on.  I have a very sedentary life  - I work on computers and sit all day long....and right now the temp is over 100 so going outside is out of the question.  I have always hated exercising.  I don't have any problem losing weight - I just have a problem with immediately gaining it back - along with an extra 10 lbs.  I hope to lose 50 lbs with the band .... but to be absolutely honest .... I would settle for not gaining any more weight.  I decided to seriously explore Lap-Band surgery but was rejected by my many attempts to get my insurance do to pay for it.  I started looking into surgery in Mexico - since the border is only a 4 hour drive from Austin.  After reading a lot of posts here - I settled on Dr. Zapata in Monterrey; a 1 hour flight from San Antonio.   In April, I contacted ready4achange.com and filled out all the paper and started getting my money together.  The staff at ready4achange was so sweet and answered all my questions, handled all the travel arrangements and hotels for me.  My surgery is scheduled for August 18th - I fly to Monterrey on the 17th and return to San Antonio on the 20th.
