Band erosion.... 4 months after recieving the band

Recommended Posts

Oct 10th I had a high pressure 11cc band put in me. Today I just went back to the doctors with some concerns and I have band erosion. Just a little tiny bit about the size of a pea. I was completey unfilled ( was at 10cc) and am now on meds for 2 weeks.

My doctor wants me to come back in 2 weeks to see how my stomach is then. I didnt really have big signs of erosion. My band area hurt once for 5 minutes a week ago and some of the tubing area hurt a bit for a week. I also once had 6 hours of acid reflux that was it.

Anyways my doctor is basically planning on removing the band in 2 weeks because he doesnt think that my stomach will heal in that time then wants me to wait 3 months and then he will install a low pressue 10cc band....

Has this ever happened to someone so soon after being banded? What did you do? What did your doctor suggest. i am lost on what to do.

I am so sorry to hear of your troubles. I hope you are feeling much better now. I'm really not sure why you haven't had any replies about your condition. Erosion is one of the main causes of having the band removed. Maybe you could re-post in the section of October 2009 (maybe there are others in your month who've had the same troubles) or in previous months.. It is odd they haven't replied here.

I hope you manage to get everything sorted. I have had MAJOR troubles with my band in my first few weeks.. from port flipping 180 degrees to infection to inflammation of my oesophagus ..and all in the first 6 weeks!.. I've been banded for 18 months now and have lost 50 pounds. not as much as I'd like but it is easy to stray and forget the rules.. I was offered to have my band loosened so I could enjoy my vacation last summer.. I was MORTIFIED.. NO WAY!.. I told my doctor.. "you don't understand.. my friends and family.. they EAT!.. and I have no willpower.. I NEED my band! '...

So as you can tell.. with all of my complications.. I love my band and it has certainly helped me from GAINING anymore weight.. I just need to refocus on my goal and start following the rules again.. otherwise my dear band may have to be taken out due to neglect and abuse!..

take care and let me know how you get on!..

I have never heard of a high pressure band or a low pressure band? Do you mind educating me on these?

I had a swedish band in my stomach. Apparently it is an older band I believe and the more fill you have the higher the pressure.

When I get my new band it will be one of the two kinds that are approved by the FDA in the United States. I will get the ap-s.

So begins my 3 months without my band. If you want to read more about my experience check out my blog which will have photos soon.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
